Midi is the way to go ...everybody knows ... I think it would be good to have the first 3 decks dj software (not 2 , not 4 )
We don\'t need to see PLAY , Cue or other Buttoms on screen - Just Deck 1 , 2 & 3 -
We can buy 3 denon 3700 or 3 Cdj400 for ex. and have the good option .
Now I start 2 vdjs in the same machine ..one for Time coded & the other for My denons 3700 -
It\'s just an idea . What do you think :

If we're going to take the multi-deck route - which is fine by me - why limit ourselves to a fixed number of decks?
Just make the interface scalable and allow the user to add unlimited number of virtual decks. The only practical limitation being the available channels of the sound card and CPU power of your computer. I think MixVibes has this functionality, or at least had at some point.

It Is more a thing on the skin creation than the whole programing. The only thing that have to be addressed is the use of video in more than one skin, in that way we can have more than 2 working video decks.
Now you can have 2 instances of VirtualDJ (with 4 decks in total) working at the same time in the same computer. You can also use more and use one or two or more soundcards or midi controllers to be used by each instance (and also have more than 4, it depends on your hardware performance).
Anyway giving 3rd deck on the same skin (or the possibility to use 3 or 4 decks in the same skin with the same video output) could be a possibility. For now, you cannot use more than one videocard in one computer to be use with video hardware acceleration ON. At this moment you need 2 computer to do this with one video mixer to have 4 decks with video working, and isn't as easy as have a 3rd deck in the same VirtualDJ Pro instance.
Hope we can figure out a solution for this petition.

As for the video thing, I think just an "A" and "B" button for each deck could assign it to one, both, or no sides of the cross fader. That could work for the audio as well as video.
I guess that if you assigned two videos to one side of the fader then they would just be faded together in an arbitrary way and of course the volume faders could control the brightness of the video still.
Could be really cool, but I can imagine it being a lot of work for the programmer(s), especially since you can kind of have 4 decks at the moment using multi-instance. But the video thing would be a real advantage though.

Solution for now is to open VirtualDJ with multinstance skin and load 3 denon 3700s controllers in there. 4 will be not used. Than you can load any song on any deck you wish and start a song from any of them ;-)
