Hey there, sorry for the mass of threads that im writing, but I have one more question!
I got myself a hercules RMX controller, and was planning on getting the djm 800.. But now I don't think that I need it anymore, since the RMX mixes just as good as the djm 800 when it comes to basic eq mixing, the main thing I like on the djm 800 are the efx, and the color efx..
I don't think that except for the efx on the djm 800 there is anything that the rmx can't do, so whats the point in having an external mixer?
Can some1 tell me if the efx 500 or efx 1000 is able to do the same things as the djm 800 with effects, or are they even better?
Also, I need to know if I can hook up the efx 500/1000 to my rmx controller.. I think I can, but I'm a big noob atm so I'll better ask.
I mostly play house/techno ect, and plan to get into the club djing one day.. (17 years old atm)
HELP APPRECIATED THX THX THX RLY A LOT IN ADVANCE !!!!

Hi mate.
The RMX is a great little unit which as you know combines conroller/mixer and sound card all in one.
The Pioneer DJM800 is a superb mixer with, (as you have pointed out) great effects.
The above equipment is not realy something you want to run together, as a mixer of this quality should realy be used with a dedicated (transport) controller like the DMC2 and depending on your final mixer of choice an external sound card as well.
You can however pay to upgrade your VDJ version and then get all kinds of effects, plugins and skins for free.
My suggestion would be to do the upgrade of the software and explore the different plugins to find out what effects you like use. Let your current system earn you some cash with a few gigs and then start looking towards buying more hardware. This will give you a better base idea on which you can build yure ultimate setup.
BTW the Le software you have will (i believe) not allow you to take advantage of an external multi channel sound card.

I downloaded some of the plugins/effects (i think I can download a limited amount of them) and they are nice, but the problem is that the only way to use them is the mouse.
But I would really like to have some controller over the effects, so is there some way?
and u still didn't answer my main question;
is the efx 500/1000 better then the djm 800 efx? can they replace it?
Actually i think i'll be looking at the 500.

Firstly
To answer the efx question. Not better but more taylored to what you seem to want. Ie a stand alone effects unit. Certainly if you are looking at the DJM 800 to use just as an Effects unit , that would be a waste.
Secondly
The RMX has a set of 6 buttons on each side which could be configured to trigger you effects without using the mouse. The advantage of these consoles is that you can change what the buttons, knobs and sliders do to suit yourself.
Hope this helps answer your questions.
Have fun

Good luck with it.
I very much doubt anyone will be saying its crap. Its a well respected unit so buy with confidence.

The main advantage of an external mixer is that it works independently from your computer. This means that you can hook up a backup source such as a CD player or an iPod that you can instantly switch to on the fly in the rare case you have a problem with your computer. You should always have some sort of emergency backup that you can fall back on.
The RMX is a software mixer and will not function without your computer.

I found that out, I bought an American Audio SD-1 for the purpose of my emergency backup - didn't see the point of CD players as I am 100% MP3!!
Loved the player, but as soon as I did a test run by killing VDJ I found that having the SD1 connected to the external inputs had no effect. I ended up hooking the SD1 up to my trusty old Numark DM-1975 and lugging them both around in their own flight case "just in case"...
Then I realised I didn't need a twin player - one would do as I only really needed time to restart VDJ (rarely the laptop) so I stumbled on the American Audio Q-SD.
I now use my RMX in external mixer mode with the left and right decks on channels 1&2 respectively. I use channel 3 for the SD card player and channel 4 for MP3 player. This is now the master!!!
Was able to sell the SD-1 and my Behringer Xenyx 1204 and get the Q-SD for no additional outlay. Then flightcased the RMX and Q-SD and have reduced my setup time by 10-15mins for both mobile and club... Happy Days!!!
