If a cdj does not have mp3 player for example the Gemini CDJ 203 can it still play mp3 files from a cd-r just not from an mp3 disc.

Hi mate

The player must be compatible with the MP3 format files to play them. This compatibility is usualy stateg in the manufacturers spec for the unit.

Thanks so what file format will they need to be?

This is what i'm looking at http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR305814

CD / CDR / CDRW compatible, so I don't understand why it won't play that format?

This is because the CD/CDR/CDRW refers to types of disc that the player will read the information(music) recorded oto the discs will still have to be in the same format as CD. MP3 is a type of file not a type of disc.

Sorry to be a pain, but will it play and mp3 file on a cd-r then?

In laymens terms... You have to record the MP3 on to the CD as an audio track - In other words, as if you bought the CD from a record shop!!
