It's been a while since I've posted. My new stats since I have gotten VDJ Pro 6. Usining VDJ I have done 14 karaoke gigs for a local club, 10 weddings, 2 birthday parties, and a handfull of private parties.
Total live crashes.... only 1!
What do I like the most? It does just about everything I want it to. I am just starting to get into playing videos with it, seems to work well also.
What would I improve? 1) I would add singer history to the Karaoke side of the program.
2)I would make the sampler have better volume control, just doesn't go loud enough to be effective for me. I end up adding the samples I want into tracks outside of VDJ to get the desired effect.
THank you VDJ team!!!

Hey I have a question. Why do you have two setups? (Denon rack setup and the denon cd player setup?) Is it to help with your mixing?
AND BTW A LOUDER SAMPLER WILL BE AMAZING!!! WE REALLY NEED THAT!!!

I have 2 set ups for 2 reasons. One is if the CPU crashes I have music backed up on CD cued at all times. Second reason is I have been trying to learn to scratch / mix and doing it on a turntable or CDJ seems easier to me

Bet it takes a long time to set up, but hey.

Download Audacity, its free, and you can increase the volume of your samples using it.

System looks nice. I never had one crash since the beginning using automix. (knocking on wood)

It's not too bad actualy. My computer is a rack mount so all the pain in the ass wireing stays done. I just hook the monitor, mouse, speakers, sub, mic and CDJs. I can get the sound se up in about 25-35 minutes.
The lighting is time consuming for me though. I hate having wires showing from the front of my booth so I spend more time velcroing the wirings to my truss and trying to route them so they are not that visable. I have a 2 week break from work and gigs coming up and I'm going to work on making all my lights wire permanatly onto the truss and just lable them all..... I think. That way I just have to hook the lights them selves up each time and not all the damn wires.
Front of my booth with facade I made. Missing from the truss in this picture are 2 ADJ DJ Dpot 250s, and 2 Vue 3.1s

Yes, you would of thought that there would be more enforces on cabling and connections within the industry.
Maybe you could use something like this http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR278509

Nice setup!
I keep my lights on my truss. What I do is put a couple of 8' 2x4 planks through each of the extreme rungs on the truss so that it is suspended in my trailer. This way if you have a second person to help, they can carry one end and I carry the other end, set up the truss tripods ahead of time then just mount the truss with lights right on the pre-set tripods... I don't always have help, so I do it myself sometimes.

LOL. you would have thought that they would have moved them or covered them up during the wedding. I asked to move them but I couldn't.

Just one observation from me...
Why is your subwoofer sitting in front of your booth like that. It could sit absolutely anywhere doesn't have to be between the speakers or even in public view. Would make your setup look much nicer.
Cheers,
Roy

True, sub-woofers are omni-directional and mono signal sourced. They do not need to be in sight.

That's my point. You just said it better ;-)
In fact considering where he has set up in this venue. I would have put it in the corner behind the booth.

Very good point. I had it behind the little bar I was next to, but people keep coming from the kitchen and threw the back of my booth to bring stuff out instead of going out the other kitchen door, so I moved it. I had just bought it that week and didn't want a glass of booze or food all over my new $1200 sub because some triped on it walking threw. I was supposed to be on the back wall away from all of the doors, but when I got there they had put all the tables in on the opposite side of the room. So I got stuck in the corner :-( I hate being near any doors when I set up. I was going to try and move all the tables, but I only had 1 hour to set up so I jut said screw it and maid best with the location I had available. I did make a couple comments about it, but all worked out good. Got a nice tip after the wedding that took some of my frustration away, lol.

So often the way. For weddings I always try and setup first thing in the morning, or at some trusted venues the night before.
That way you get the prize spot - or at very least the intended spot and the rest of the stuff has to be set up around you as they will not attempt to move your rig!!
I will even put safety (or gaffer) tape on the floor to mark out a safe area around my rig where they can set tabls chairs up to etc. I then remove the tape whe I return.
Cheers,
Roy

@ Tear-Em-Up
Audacity?!
I'm talking about samples that need to be in sync with VDJ software. Having a louder sampler will be perfect, because it always seems as if my actual songs are louder than the sampler. Audacity wouldn't solve the problem.
Thanks!
