Tópico: Complete lockup/freeze with 6.0.4 at last nights gig

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Ran fine for 2 hours then when the Video playing was about to finish, with a cued up Video ready, I pressed play on the Hercules RMX and the complete screen froze. Even the scrolling graphics froze, with crashes on previous versions the scrolling graphics have continued. The output screens were still running, however, as the previous video ran out there was silence. Had to play a CD while I forced a shutdown of Windows as I couldn't do anything else.

There was NO crashlog, but, it definitely froze the instant I pressed play on the RMX. All the latest W7 drivers installed, running the Logo pluggin and SBDJ scrolling text Pluggin.

Got a double gig tonight, so, I may go back to 6.0.2 as that version never crashed on me. If that version crashes then I may have to dump W7 and go back to Vista :-(

I had a similar problem at a gig last week. Was able to duplicate it later and it centered around the scrolling text SBDJ plug in called text 2.

I played audio only gigs without problems.

At home sorting new VOBS (only/no plugins) no problem for over 6+6 hours (2 days at home)

But on a video gig I got the crashguard after 2-3 hours. But was using original text effect, titler, boom auto, inverse
and also I played two avi files ....

After this crashguard & restart I tried to play audio only and after 20 minutes i got silence, song stopped sudenly, no warning nothing, but I was able to kill VDJ and rest of the evening was fine.

Your posts and my experiences appear that using of effects is maybe the reason....

I will try to delete and not use any video effects and same with all except one transition and see if i can get a crash again on next video gig.

Went to do my double gig tonight. Re-installed version 6.0.2 before the gig.

1st Bar gig - Ran without connecting any of my Video equipment as I needed to be able to dismantle and move 50 metres to my next nightclub gig quickly. Still played Videos but the display window was hidden. An hour into the gig and without touching anything, VDJ froze including the music stopping!!! Ran up the volume on the backup CD that I always have running at every gig. Had to power off the computer and restart. Worked fine after that til the end of the gig. Had a quick look at the event log where it had recorded an Application Hang.

2nd Nightclub gig - Ran with full video output. Thinking about the most recent changes to my system, I removed my SD Card that I had been using with Readyboost. Also, I have recently been using my RMX with 2ms latency, so, I put it back to 21ms. I did 3 hours with no problems.

I'm wondering if Readyboost could be the problem, I know its probably not necessary for VDJ, it was just convenient to leave it in the slot. Gonna put 6.0.4 back on as it froze the same on 6.0.2. More testing, testing, testing. :-(

P.S Oops, nearly forgot to mention there were NO plugins being used at the first gig when the system completely crashed.

Text2D isn't one of my plugins...

Text2d was one that I had issues with aswell, moved to Scotts "SBDJ Scrolltext" with no issues. Check to see which one you were using.

Been having a look at the Event Log and I have 6 "Application Hangs", one was VirtualDJ, three were Explorer, One Hewlett Packard Support Framework and one was Unwise.

Each event reports that "The program (blah, blah, blah) stopped interacting with Windows and was closed"

Beginning to wonder if this Windows 7 is as good as everyone bangs on about, didn't get these "hangs" in Vista.

Tonights gig went fine with no problems until I finished. I shut down VDJ then went to shut down Windows and got an Application Hang. Eventually restarted the Windows Explorer, checked the event log where it had recorded the Windows Explorer Hang.

Not happy that Windows 7 is giving these problems, it may be my HP G70 laptop, but, it was new in February this year so should be fine with W7.

I am going to have to go back to Vista til maybe service pack 1 is released for W7. I didn't have any of these problems with Vista.

Very disappointed :-(

Can't add anything to help in your issues mate, but it sounds like you've nailed it yourself!

I'm a firm believer in at least using an SP1 (if not an SP2) with any OS.
Too bad 'bout your negative experience, especially given the initial good reports with W7.

Think I'll be sticking with Vista (warts an' all) until there are some exceptional results in using W7 with VDJ.

Sorry to hear 'bout these issues you're having... :-(

Yeh, its a shame. I like W7 and would love to continue with it. However, I make my living DJing with the laptop 3-4 nights per week and can't live with Windows issues like this. Must have something reliable, its very nerve racking just waiting for the next crash when working. Strangely I never had problems with Vista and never thought it was as bad as people have said. Just from the initial reports that W7 was very solid and akin to XP, thought it would be good to move on and use it.

Oh well, got a few hours work doing the factory restore then updating all the drivers, copying the video database back, etc. Next gig is not til Thursday.

I had a freeze saturday night using the 2d text pluggin about 3 hours with no issues, I tried to open the file folder with saved text and wham, freeze. had to use task manager and restart program. I'm going to try the SBDJ scrolling plugin and see if that behaves better. I use a pretty powerful desktop PC with 4 gigs of ram and a GT9600 video card w/512 of dedicated so I'm thinking it may not be the computer. If anyone has any suggestions as far as what some of my settings within program should be, please let me know thanks Al

Never had a problem with Scotts SBDJ Scrolling Text plugin.

Seems a few people have had problems with the 2D text plugin, absolutely nothing to do with SBDJ Scrolling Text plugin.

Appology to SBDJ - I'm so sorry.. your right! Text 2d isn't one of yours. I am using your plug ins and they are great. Expcially strips. Sorry if for the mistake. Thanks for the excellent contributions.

I'm going to switch to his scrolling plug in. BTW... the problem with text2 was when i opened a folder to load a saved text2 file. Just like another posting on this thread.

Regardless, thanks to all of you who are contributing plug ins... YOU ROCK!

Ran win7 Friday Night with a few hicups and left my gear there for Sunday nights Party. Because I was so impressed with win7 I installed it on my second system. Went to work Sunday and win7 would not recognise my USB drivers on the Numark mixer or the mouse, further investigation told me that the drivers were installed correctly however there was an error 43 message, I couldn't use my second system due to the same issue . Fortunately a Dj buddy who just happen to come out for the night due to a cancellation kindly went home got his gear and took over the gig. Now Im pissed off as Sunday nights money is my spending money so no beer for me this week guys so any donations would be welcome lol. Serious lesson I have learned from this either have a dual boot system or don't forget your spare lappy with a separate OS on, I well and truly fcuked up. And if the truth is known I probably forgot to update the drivers , hands up when I mess up. For m also back to crumby VISTA, HATE IT.

The lesson you should have learnt is never make changes to your rig before a gig, and whenever you do make changes test thoroughly before taking it live ;)

Wow!! I have Windows 7 upgrade sitting on my desk and not even sure if I should install. Seems like it's a video issue. The main reason I bought a new laptop is to do videos. Now I am on the fence with Windows 7!

Still worth trying it out on YOUR system as most people seem to be having very good experience with W7.

Just didn't work for me, clean install & all drivers updated correctly, etc., etc.
