i have a dj console mk 2. using the included disc and also tried download from the site but get error when i start computer hdj2cpl.exe system error. the progarm can't start...because hdjapi.dll is missing. i tried reinstalling and i keep getting the same message.
i was told by support:
"Please download and install the last Hercules driver:
http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=28&pid=177&cid=1
Also please follow the instruction on the Hercules website."
that initial install went well until it went to update firmware and then told me "unable to determine conroller type for the dj console mk2." there was a link to pdf. her_eng_oo383.pdf
i followed this very complicated set of instructions and got stuck after deleting hercules from the sound/vid controller section. at this point, step 9 you are are run the updater from start/run.
C:\Program Files\Hercules\Audio\DJ Console Series\firmware\HDJSeriesUpdater.exe" –manual
i did that but when i plug in the usb of the mk2 nothing happens. so i repeated steps with holding the talk over button as below
"If the updater sees the device, make sure that under Current column (in the DJ
Console Series – Firmware Updater), the Firmware Controller should be boot and
under Flash column, the Firmware Audio is selected.. If not, unplug and re-plug
again following the same procedure as described in Step 6."
but, the mk2 is never seen by the firmware updater. what do i do now?
by the way, i notice that in sound and video and game controller section the hercules is gone (as i deleted it per instruction) but in "other devices" hercules dj console mk2 appears with a !
thanks in advance for the help

Let's try to figure out a few things and move on from there.
1) First, uninstall the drivers completely.
2) Then, reinstall the driver using the latest package (4.HDJS.2009):
- Right-click on the file and select Run as Administrator
- When asked to connect the console, don't. Simply click NEXT and let the installer proceed.
At the end of the installation, do you still get the error message about the missing file ?
- If you do get the message, repeat step 1 & 2, but this time, disable any antivirus or firewall you might have running.
- If you do not, connect the Mk2, let it be detected and installed by Windows. Reboot the computer and see what happens
As far as the firmware is concerned, it should only be updated if you have an older version ( which would be done automatically once the driver are properly installed).

hi, thanks for the help. i did steps as you wrote to me on 2/18 at 2:56. at end of install got message that bulk install of drivers all ok. 4 green checks. then firmware updater 4.0.6 runs. it has green checks for prep and audio firware. for step 3 contoller it says to reconnect usb. i do that and get "unable to determine controller type fo rths dj conole mk2". i did reboot.. that takes me right to hercules dj series firmeware updater 4.0.6. says, dj conole mk3 2 contains old firmware version...needs updating. click ok.
it goes right to firmware controller and hangs. wants disconnect and reconnect of usb but nothing happens now. what next? contact hercules? is the unit "bricked"
thanks again
dave

What I don't understand is how you get this error with the LE version.
This is a 6.05 Pro feature and has been removed in the next release unless a console is connected.

David,
If you now go back to the procedure document to proceed with the manual updater, is the MK2 now seen properly when connected in BOOT mode (while holding the talk-over button) ?

@Bangys
The image is small so I can't really see the error message, but be sure that no programs that can use the audio device ( webcam , chat, Windows sounds) is active when trying to update the firmware.
ALso be sure to have administrator rights.
