Anyone got any? I havent seen any decent videos of the stuff but I figured they must be good. Looking forward to getting to play with them DMX controlled with my midi mixer.

we've had LED yoke lights demo'ed in our club and i would have to say that if it was for a larger club it would have to be a better light than the ones we've seen, or used in a smaller venue with darker lighting.
we do like the fact that the LED's we've put in have made a very minimal impact on the clubs electric bill - most months in the summer you could buy a used car for what we spend on electricity! - but they still have a few issues to work out to get them as bright as we need.
and as far as gobo's go i couldnt really see in the video clips they had what they looked like. we had had some custom made with our club logo for our prospot250's that we had, and they looked really good. if you can get someone to make them, the initial price for the first one will set you back a few but after that they are alot cheaper.

The biggest difference between LED and incandescent lighting, besides the energy use, is drop off. After a certain distance LED drop off is very noticeable, and sudden. With incandescent the fall off is less severe, and more even.

And at 150 watt not that bright either i would say unless your 4 feet away from it.

I bought a pair of Chavaut Q-Spot 150 LEDs. I am pleased with the results. The DMX feature is nice also. I run a laptop using FreeStyler to control them as well as 2 Chavaut ColorPALLETS. Nice start to an awesome lightshow.
The LEDs don't draw the power. I try to split my sound power from light power with 2 circuits anyway. Gives me some extra joules to get a bigger punch with the subs and not have the breaker blow.

theres a reason theyre called baby spots. there are more powerful led ones. the leds can be quite good if you go for a good brand, etc.

Hi all
LED lights are about to take a step up. SIM 2 have just brought out a video projector that chucks out high brightness full HD projector that uses LED lights and its awsome. Very high performance LED lighting is just around the corner.

Thanks for your input guys... I was thinking the equivalent of 150watts does seem crap. I normally use lights with 250-300watts.
Hmmm... whats my next choice. I'm bout to spend a packet on lighting since I left all my lighting to a friend when I moved. I'm convinced to buy 8 sets of led par cans for uplighting and just need something to go along with that. Don't really have the $ yet to go with the big boys of the moving heads.

I'm doing bit more research on lighting and realised if your getting a moving head you should be looking at getting ones with a multi facet prisom/mirror. It basically doubles or triples the amount of gobo images on the floor depending on how many facets it has. A single gobo is just going to look shit & boring unless you have a multitude of moving heads.
The Chauvet Q-spot 150 looks good...
