Greetings!
Well since my first post here, about a year ago, I got bit by the patriotic bug and joined the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
I spent the past year training and doing missions!
Now I’m an officer with even more responsibilities, kinda got distracted from my music.
OUCH!
It’s been an adventure!
In the meanwhile I haven’t forgotten my dream of playing music again.
I finally got the equipment to begin the process of transferring my vinyl to PC and cannot even begin to tell you the joy that fills me as I sit here hour after hour transferring the vinyl to my PC! ACK!
((((0)))) ((((0)))) < --------My eyes
Only a few hundred more 12” records to go! I WILL GET THIS DONE BY THE END OF MARCH OR DIE TRYING!
All I can think about are all the possibilities of working with virtual music once I get it all on my PC!
I AM CATCHING UP TO TECHNOLOGY!
HAHAHA!
Besides the Coast Guard (Part Time) I still have my regular job in the Aircraft industry so I get up at about 5:00 AM, then get off work around 4:00PM, check the CG biz then start transferring music until around 10 or 11:00P, hit the sak and start the whole process all over again plus every other weekend doing the overtime at work thing.
But hey, it’s getting me the buks to get the equipment I need. Saturdays pay me time and a half and Sundays are double time!
$ . $ <----my other eyes
SO where do I get the energy to do all of this?
When I was DJing we were using standard Technics 1200’s and mixed by hand with absolutely no computers or software of any kind! So that is part of my driving force all the possibilities and the things that can be done with music nowadays!
I CAN TASTE IT!
Word to the wise, keep up with technology! It’s been over 20 years since I played last so I had a lot of catching up to do, IN EVERYTHING!
DANG THERE WAS A LOT OF CATCHING UP TO DO! And still more :\
I discovered VDJ about a year ago and was really impressed with the program. I had been on youtube listening to music and wanted to play again amd found VDJ along the way.
So I began to rebuild the 12” record collection. At the time I had no turntables, just a basic stereo and wasn’t about to play my collection on that equipment.
BUT I STILL WANTED TO PLAY!
I started to DL music from you tube, copying the music from the videos and used that music to build my playlists and practice my mixes. I’m focusing on a specific time period and a lot of the music is still only on vinyl but I still needed something to work with music wise.
And here I am a year later, almost burned out from the (ugh) quality of that music practicing mixes etc.
I’m reviewing some of what I’ve already transferred and am mind boggled!, lol. Amazing how good music really sounds when you have the right equipment and software!
I AM ALIVE AGAIN!
So I think it’s the combination of hearing quality music again (smirk) the dream and that one thing we all share in common!
And that is our passion for music!
Lastly when I made that first post last year ya’ll joked about me being a royal pain in the butt with all the questions I would have hahahaha!
So far I’ve been able to find the answers but I know that questions will come.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! : P
Lastly I just wanted to say how much I enjoy these forums and reading all the posts!
YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!
I’m glad that your generation has all these fun toys!
Enjoy the moment, it’s all we really have and in all things give thanks, tomorrow may never come.
Peace
