Hi guys,
i am brand new to dj'ing but i have only ever dj'd at home using 2 standard speakers with rca connectors. I have been offered my first real gig in a club and i am terrified.... i am just wondering, when i take my laptop and the rmx etc.... do i connect the rmx straight to the clubs speaker system or do i have to connect it through the mixer in the club? does anybody have any advice on which is better and more reliable?
also i keep thinking...what if my laptop fails during a set? what should i use for back up?? i noticed also the hercule only uses rca and 1/4" outputs but i have seen amplified speakers with a different type of connection..... what can i do if this turns out to be the case in the club?
so sorry for all these (probably stupid) questions but would really appreciate any help whatsoever!!
the guy heard me dj at a house party and he liked my mixing so at least that part i am ok at... :(

first thing i would suggest is going to the club like the nite before to check out the set up to make sure you have the right cables to set up..and even see if you can do a sound check..that will prob be the best way...GOOD Luck ..

certainly jumping in at the deep end, but best of luck.
all you need to do is use the rca connections from one and two at the back of the rmx to a spare channel on the clubs mixer and make sure it is switched over to line, i also hook up three and four if there is another spare channel on the mixer from the rmx but that is my way.
if you can see if you can do a dry run at the club before the night in question.
if you want pm me and i'll give you my mobile number just in case you want to chat to someone on the night.

dayo where are you from.im in dublin mate.have a look at mixer or amp you are plugging into and make sure you have the cables ect.also pre do a mix on cd maybe the club should have players as backup

there are only so many ways that you will ever hook up. RCA, 1/4", xlr...go online and order some adaptors. Think about every possible situation and buy a couple of adaptors. You will never be stuck!! Preperation for advance situations will save you a lot of headaches down the road. You can even buy what you need at radio shack or any Pro Sound Shop or online. I'm in a similar position...
I Got a 3 hour-"gig" lined up at a local Dance radio station as my first outing...
I Got my Rmx and a new Laptop,and i've melted some Beatport and Dance-Tune vouchers...
And I Got mega nerves!!!
Especially that something might go wrong with the computer.
So i thought i'd take a pre recorded CD ov a long mix that i did at home a couple ov nights ago, so if it all goes wobbly, i can stick that in a CD player while i attempt to sort out the problem...
Hope your mix goes well...
