Hello cotarelo,
You have no ASIO buffer in DJ Control MP3 as the ASIO buffer is a feature of sound cards, and there is no sound card in DJ Control MP3: if you have a sound card with no ASIO drivers, you can install ASIO drivers with ASIO4ALL http://www.asio4all.de/ and set the buffer size in ASIO4ALL.

I installed the ASIO drivers and lower the buffer but I see not much difference. Also it unables me to use my usb headphones and the jack audio output at the same time to do the pre listening...
What is the advantage of using this ASIO drivers? what do they bring?

cotarelo,
Once you have installed ASIO drivers, you can load, in VirtualDJ Sound setup tab, the setting ASIO instead of 4.1 sound card, and then VirtualDJ uses your ASIO setup (if you don't select an ASIO driver in VirtualDJ, installing ASIO4DJ is of no use).
ASIO drivers let you set the buffer size while WDM (or DirectSound, it is the same mode) drivers let you no menu to set the buffer size.
PS: if you need help, you should describe completely your configuration (example: Dell Dimension 5150 - Core Duo 3 GHz - 2 GB RAM - Windows XP SP3 - Hercules DJ Console Rmx & Mk2, DJ Control Steel & MP3 e2 with 2009_HDJS_4 drivers - VirtualDJ Pro 6.0.5 used in ASIO 16-bit 44.1KHz with output 1-2 set as master and output 3-4 set as preview)

Ok, here it goes.
Lenovo T400 with integrated Soundcard Conexant 2501 Audio HD 2.1 with ASIO drivers installed. Just 1 input (earphones and mic) Hercules DJ Control MP3 with latest drivers. and Jabra BT8030 USB stereo earphones.
My problem: When I touch the jog wheel of the dj controller, I want that the delay that is produced since I release the wheel from a scratch and the music starts playing normally is minimized as much as possible, like in the real turntables.
Before I was using the sound card as a primary card and the usb headphones as a second card. I have configured the ASIO drivers to work with VirtualDJ, but now, I dont know if the delay is reduced. My impression is that a little bit... but... not so so much (so I am open to other suggestions), but with ASIO drivers I am not able to do the prelistening with the headphones.

I don't think the DJ Control MP3 has touch sensitive jog wheels. The delay is the amount of the software needs to realise the jog wheel is no longer moving - in otherwords no more MIDI signals.
As far as I know, the only controllers that deliver an immediate response are the touch sensitive ones that know when you've taken your hand off the wheel.
Cheers,
Roy

Guess I only have the solution of mapping the useless joystick in the middle of dj control mp3 to touchsensitive_touch and the jogs to touch_sensitive and use both hands while scratching

Hello cotarelo,
If you mix in VirtualDJ Pro, you can try in Config > Performances tab, to go in the Scratch area, choose optimize for latency, select enhanced algorithm where you can reduce the filter size (I get 11 blocks by default but it still works OK at 5 on my computer).
(But as DJ Control MP3 jog wheels have a lower resolution than DJ Control MP3 e2 jog wheels, maybe the jog wheel response time is longer on DJ Control MP3 than on the new generation controllers).

Thanks for the information! I do not know if I am doing something wrong but... I don't see that much difference. Also, the crossfader, the faders and the almost everything has half second delay from the manual touch until is changed in virtual DJ. I guess I bought a very old controller...
A question... this performance tab that you mentioned me is intended also to work with ASIO drivers?
Thanks again! you were so helpful!

Hello cotarelo,
The response time of DJ Control MP3 may be longer than the response time of newer generation controllers, but, as it was already mentionned earlier, the response time of any MIDI controller (except if there is a bug) is shorter than the response time of the sound board, that is why I suggest mixing in ASIO mode instead of WDM mode, since in my opinion a latency issue is not related to DJ Control MP3 but to the size of the ASIO buffer, if you are in ASIO.

Cotarelo,
I'm check all what you have write in here and I have some doubts about your understanding in this.
This controller works very good, no delays at all. Maybe I just find the joystick not to good, but everything else is ok. If you don't press the buttons right, it could be a delay, but it is more about the buttons than about its MIDI response. YOu may need to clean the buttons if they not work right, but in this case maybe just need more pressure when you push it.
The use of ASIO4ALL it's just a way to get working your unworking configuration. If you think asio4all is that kind of drivers, it's not right. Asio4All drivers are an EMULATION of asio drivers for sound cards that don't support ASIO. In your case that you are wanting to use 2 soundcard operation, this could help you (that's why you have been told about ASIO4ALL usage) but it isn't the best way to do this. If you use 2 crappy soundcard, you will get crappy sound and performance. You can use a SINGLE sound card to get your MASTER + Headphones work as it should.
If you are wondering to use this 2 sound cards and be reliable operation, is really to much to ask. This configuration will let you work with, but it is not the best way to do it, and you may find troubles to get it working well enough.
Sorry to be this way, but you may work with your DJControl MP3 and your Laptop and sound cards you have as it is now. It's not DJControls fault or VirtualDJ fault, but when you put those together (Your laptop+ your soundcards + vdj + hercules) it is not a good match for your overall performance.
Try with only ONE soundcard, I can recommend you a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 USB that is cheaper than others, but has a good performance. If you want a very good one, you may need to invest about 190 Euro in that, but if not, then 50 Euro would be a right price for you. Also in this way you may need Headphones, real headphones not this usb based that you have, that usually have very crappy sound cards inside.
Good Luck anyway, hope you may find something that works for you as it works for many others.

Hey there. I was wondering if anybody could help me with my Hercules RMX? I just bought the Hercules RMX and I istalled it on my labtop wich is a Dell Inspirion 1720. I has 2G of memory, with a intel centrino duo running with Windows 7. My problem is that when I'm playing my mp3 on the rmx it always has a small pause. I tryed reinstalling all the drivers again and still having the same problem. What could be causing this problem? Its driving me crazy.....

This may be caused by performance issues with your computer and/or incorrect configuration in VirtualDJ.
