How can I set up VDJ to allow both the hercules card and my laptop card to work? So I can preview on the Hercules but record from my mac soundcard.

Are you using an external mixer in conjunction with your Hercules (which model?)?. If not, I would not recommend using the integrated sound card for recording. If you're using the Hercules unit to control VDJ's internal software mixer, you can just use the recording function as it is. There's no point doing an unnecessary digital-->analog-->digital conversion to reduce quality.

No just the Hercules. I mainly wanted to do this because I'm away from home and don't have any speakers just headphones. With nothing plugging into the main channel on the hercules my computer doesn't know to start recording. Also if I use the computer port I can't cue without everything I do being heard before the actual transition.

Hello,
With DJ Console Rmx + headphones, you can:
- turn the Cue - Mix rotary button (on DJ Console Rmx) on Mix position to monitor in your headphones at which moment you can start recording, and click on VirtualDJ Rec button
- then turn back the Cue - Mix rotary button on Cue position to preview the tracks before mixing.
With DJ Console Rmx + headphones, you can:
- turn the Cue - Mix rotary button (on DJ Console Rmx) on Mix position to monitor in your headphones at which moment you can start recording, and click on VirtualDJ Rec button
- then turn back the Cue - Mix rotary button on Cue position to preview the tracks before mixing.
