Looking to buy a new computer strictly for djing. Has to be a mac because I simply can't tolerate windows. Only problem is I don't have much money to spend. I found a powerbook on craigslist for $300. It has a 1.5ghz single core processor and 2gb of ram. Was wondering if anyone else was using a powerbook and can vouch that they work well with vdj.

Buy it. For that price, you can always resell it quick if you dont like it.

I'm quite happily not a mac guy so could be wrong but I don't think that would work, the powerbooks are before Apple started using Intel chipsets, Virtual DJ would not run.

Got a PowerMac G5. No Intel processor, but VDJ works fine. What kind of problems do you think it should have?

My mistake then, didn't realise VirtualDJ was PPC compatible.

If it does work it will barely work, there's no way the specs on an old powerbook will be up to par for running VDJ smoothly.

no it will def work for strictly audio. my old p4 processor had it working flawless for windows, that should def be fine.

imo if you're gonna get a machine dedicated to music then y should it not be windows? ppl get a pc and take it all over the net and do all sorts of experiments then when it breaks down run to mac. if money is not a problem then get a mac. if money is a problem then y not get a pc and only use it for music. since u wont be taking it anywhere else it shouldnt break down.
my opinion.
