With VDJ6.0.8, my DAC-2 has FINALLY been recognized on my XP machine. Now, I just need to know how to import all of my BPM and comments information from VDJ4.x into VDJ6.0.8. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully one of the teamers can check on this one..
I do know that the .xml database changed in 6.x (must users now have two .xml databases, one from 5.x & one from 6.x)
to have everything follow you in the upgrade, you need to connect any external hardrives etc, then install 6.x? where it then copies then updates the databases to be compatible with 6.x
[the move fron 5.x to 6.01 was relatively painless, except for some lost keyboard shortcuts.)
The problem is
I dont know what would happen with a move from 4.x to 6.x ????
Basically I can't remember if the .xml database was named the same between 4.x & 5.x ?? and if the 6.x upgrade would recongnize and convert the 4.x database ??
on a side note:
What happened with your DAC-2?? When you say recognized, do you mean by windows or VDJ??

With moves from v3 to v4 to v5 and now v6 - we continued to improve the database at each major revision. And subsequently if you skipped 1 or more major revisions then you need to at least install an instance of the major version(s) that you missed and run it once to get the database converted to that version.
So to properly go from v4, in your case; to v6 - you need to install a version 5 instance and run it 1 time to make sure the right v5 database files are created.
So I have made v5.2 for PC available in your Download Center.
So, here is the question - you have already installed v6 on the same machine that v4 currently resides?
And, your database for v6 does not show any of your v4 database info right ?
Also, are you using any external drives ?
Please answer these questions before you run the v5 install.

Yes, they now reside on the same machine. The database info from 4 is NOT showing on 5. While I do connect an external hard drive, I only use the internal hard drive for the software. By the way, VDJ4x and VDJ6x are are two separate internal hard drives.

I answered your questions. How should I proceed?

How do I uninstall VDJ 6 without touching 4x? There is only one entry for VDJ in the add/remove programs applet. I want to install 5x and THEN 6x.

Never mind. I uninstalled it. Update. I installed vdj5 then vdj6. Now...how do I get my old database info into VDJ6?

I followed the tutorial as best I could, but it didn't completely work. Not sure what to try next.

Before you started Virtual DJ v5 for the first time were your external harddrives connected and turned on? It's been such a long time but I think the procedure is something like:
After connecting all drives so that they're visible in Windows Explorer:
1. Close Virtual DJ v4
2. Install Virtual DJ v5
3. Open Virtual DJ v5 and let it upgrade your database(s)
4. Close Virtual DJ v5
5. Install Virtual DJ v6
6. Open Virtual DJ v6 and let it upgrade your database(s)

Ok but didn't we need to rescan files when they introduced "Key"??

My music is on the internal hard drive, as stated above. How do I "let" versions 4 and 5 update the database? Just by opening the application or do I have to do something specific?
Mensajes Sat 15 May 10 @ 6:50 pm
Yes, just opening the application as Andrew87 pointed out ... after each install you have to run VirtualDJ at least 1 time for it to upgrade the database to that version.

OK. So I don't have to do any transferring of xml files, like the above video tutorial shows?
Mensajes Sat 15 May 10 @ 8:38 pm
No you don't need to do any of that .... just follow the steps given by Andrew ...

OK. I'll report back with the results. Thanks to all who replied.

Latest results. Upgraded to VD5. Ran it once. It seem to transfer some of the old VDJ4 database. I newly analyzed about 30 songs. I then shut down VDJ5. Installed VDJ6. Ran it once. It didn't seem to transfer the info from the newly analyzed songs. Overall, it seems I will have to reanalyze quite a few songs. I don't think the transfer went as it seems it could have. The lone bright spot: My DAC-2 is recognized by VDJ6.

You had already installed 6.0X once right?
The databases were already created once then..
Before you re-installed 6.08 did you delete those ver 6 databases?

Yes, I did have V 6x installed before. I uninstalled it before I started over with V5x. Should that not have deleted the ver 6 database? If not, tell me exactly where to find it and I'll start over. I'll uninstall versions 5 & 6 and remember to delete the ver 6 (and 5, if necessary) database(s). Thanks.
