Tópico: JUST BOUGHT PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP FOR NETSEARCH - THANKS - Page: 1

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

So I will keep using NETSEARCH and support ATOMIX FRIENDS .
9,70 EURO PER MONTH - 116,40 PER YEAR - MUSIC AND VIDEO WHENEVER you need them.
When you charge at least 500 for a party and offer NETSEARCH to the customer , those fees don't seem bad.
I hope eveything is legal .

And without this, you can't play your hold netsearch cache (it's absolutly not normal).
And where do you have find the service on the site (me, i can't)

and where did it say VIDEO?? I have not heard or seen that in writing??

i have got the new netsearch and it dose do video as well i got 200 of them larst night and all were fine thanks team

Nice!!

Mmm. Without trying to burst your bubble, I don't think the "new" netsearch will support video, here's why:

1. Grooveshark who supply the music for netsearch do not currently do video.
2. On the sign up page it clearly states from version 6.1 (we are currently on 6.0.8)
3. The price is very good (cheap) if it includes video

So, I know your thinking "but I'm getting video now". I too managed to get video from Netsearch to work yesterday- and I'm not a premium member yet.

Maybe someone from Atomix could confirm or deny video support on the
new netsearch. My gut feeling though is make the most of it while you can.

never mind it only works out to £8 a month

Very true, £8 a month is a small price to pay. I too will be signing up at some point this week.

My thinking is:

Average Download/CD price = £10 containing maybe 40 tracks if you buy a "Now, Thats What I Call Music" album

Buy 1 a month = £120 a year = 480 tracks

VDJ Netsearch (via Grooveshark) = £8ish a month with MILLIONS of tracks available

£8p/m subscription = £96 a year = Unlimited use of MILLIONS of tracks (whilst subscription is active)

When you look at it like that, surely its a no brainer. Obviously for those people exclusively video, it would appear at the moment not to be much good. But who knows, hopefully some form of video support may appear.

It all falls down though when the internet fails or when your playing at a venue that doesn't have the net doen't it? e.g. in a Marquee or at a festival.

This is very true, but no different to how Netsearch currently, or used to work.

You can still download/cache files before hand. So long as your subscription is active the files will still play.

So your saying you download the catch before hand and then when your at your gig you can play them even without internet connection?

The problem with that staement is I thought that Netsearch was for that odd request.........how do you know before hand??

Create your own FlashForward or become a psychic ... lol

It's funny how many people rely on this feature it good, but still get your own music that's part of DJing is having the music people want.. Do your homework before gigging out...

I've walked into places with never being there before and rocking the place for hrs with the music and video's I have...

Also Groove shark is free on the net to see and listen to tracks...I also see this hurting us dj's who purchase are music cause someone who uses this can be a lot cheaper if they don't have to by music and do no homework..

Nice break down Dan ;)

But from my understanding of Netsearch, (which I may be wrong), is that all these downloaded tracks are not actually use. You get the privilege to use them by the means of the subscription. If that subscription stops for some reason then bye bye tracks. Similar to the Napster scheme I guess.

This is how Netsearch should work but what I'm finding by reading all these threads on Netsearch that users seem to be using Netsearch to "Bulk up" there music collection, which I believe is not really sensible IMHO

As a professional, working DJ you should not rely on this service in this way. Flame me if you want but this is how I'm starting to see it!!!!

@CharlieWilson - that's how I read it:

Quote :
Cut down on your music expenses

Starting from VirtualDJ v6.1, Atomix Productions has partnered with GrooveShark in order to bring you a reliable and high-quality catalog of more than 8 millions songs, while still ensuring that the artists get compensated for their work.
Unlike consumer-oriented music stores like iTunes or Beatport, where you pay for each song you want, but own them forever, in VirtualDJ we chose a model more suited for working DJs:
You pay only $9.99 per month, and for this price, you can download and play ANY song you want, from the millions available, without limits, as long as your subscription is active.

@JimmyB - Exactly the same as Napster- if you keep subscribing you keep the tracks.

I totaly agree that netsearch should only be used for "one-off's". However with the upgraded service this might change slightly. With known quality you could get more out of it.

come on guys .
I just paid 20euro for a pizza-hut =2 months premium membership
We all download from rapidshare and artists don't get anything.
This way I feel much better and more professional when I show this feature to my customers.
The more money ATOMIX will get the more companies will come closer and join.
I am sure video will be available also.

I agree, but communication from Atomix has been poor. Andrew made the sticky some time ago but many of the questions posted afterwards remain unanswered.

I'm still not sure what's involved here, even after reading all the threads about Netsearch and Premium membership.

A sticky or statement from Atomix with FAQ's on what happens to the old netsearch and terms, conditions and what's included in the Grooveshark deal would put people at rest.

Keith

I just signed up for a Premium membership and the new netsearch through Grooveshark is awesome! Question though, since I've signed up for the premium membership through VDJ does it allow me VIP access to the Grooveshark website?
