Tópico: Pitch changes in time-stretch after using KeyChanger

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi

I have the latest version of VDJ and ive noticed after using the KeyChanger plugin the deck I use it on no longer changes pitch correctly (speed up or down) it actually changes it by time-stretching it and it sounds absolutely disgusting and ruins the audio quality of the track no matter wot pitch its played at - it stays this way even when restarting the application..

how can I reset this (and never use the key-changer again :( )

many thanks

You might be experiencing problems with the keylock..

1st, turn off keylock.. quality come back to normal?

The Keylock in VDJ does work.. but its finicky, and usually requires a bit of fiddly around with different settings to get it to work correctly..

The faster the computer, the better the soundcard (IE: latency etc) , and the better the source material (IE: 320kbps VS 128 kbps), all contribute to how well the keylock works..

thanks for your reply :)

I just reset back to original settings which worked.... it ONLY happens after using the key-changer plugin.. used it on deck A and the pitch went on that - then deck B and pitch went on that too... - wont be using that again...just wanted to see wot it done.. I only have 1.6Ghz x 2 (2 x 256kb) , 2Gb Ram and Realtek HD built in sound on laptop - I had to rollback soundcard driver cos it was sticking on the music, works great now though

cheers

You will get much better results if you have a powerful computer and are able to utilise advanced master tempo in CONFIG -> Performances

The key changer plugin is obsolete and is no-longer necessary in the latest versions of VirtualDJ - v6 has key changing ability built-in and the default skin has a knob for this. Key changing is used for Karaoke or for mixing in key.

For DJ'ing, keylock is more commonly used, allowing the song to be locked at its normal pitch, but increased or decreased in tempo (BPM) to beat match with the other song without the audible pitch being affected.

doesnt it sound awfull though when its time-stretched? - more notcieable when its slower... I would never use that

set up correctly I can move the BPM's +/- 10% with no loss of quality.

again...
how well it works depends on your computer, soundcard, Music source, and settings.

Regardless of key lock, you should avoid trying to mix two songs with a big difference in BPM. Gradually work your way up/down in tempo or use an effect (Brake, backspin, etc.) to break up a sudden transition.

yeah thanks, I'd rather use a transition than speed a mix up or down... - usually slow record down or let it play out to a long sample then let the new BPM tune start - sometimes the actual build up of songs are good (rather than using em for the mix) ... but you guys already know that :)
