Tópico: VDJ Database Synchronization between two PC's

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi,

I'm using a program called PC Sync to synchronize my music files and VDJ database on my home pc to my laptop and I've run into some issues on how VDJ updates the XML file on a partitioned drive.

Here's the set up:

Home PC

Vista 64 Home Premium

VDJ installed on C: (Contains main VDJ XML file)
Music files installed on Z: (A PARTITION on the same drive, contains "VirtualDJ Local Database v6" XML file)

Laptop

Windows 7 Home Premium

VDJ installed on C: (Contains main VDJ XML file)
Music files installed on Z: (A SEPARATE DRIVE which DOES NOT contain the "VirtualDJ Local Database v6" XML file.

When I load VDJ on my home pc and make a change (ex. analyse a bpm), it now updates the VirtualDJ Local Database v6" XML file NOT the main database. The problem is I need just one database i can use to sync easily between the two.

Is the problem related to the partition? Do I need a seperate drive for my home pc? Is this the reason why the VirtualDJ Local Database v6" XML file is not created on my secondary laptop drive?

Thanks in advance.......

VirtualDJ creates a local database for every drive that is not the system partition (I.e: C: where you installed VirtualDJ.) All database information (BPM, comments, etc.) for music on that drive is stored in the local database (This allows hot swapping between multiple computers with external drives.)

You will need to sync the local database on the Z: partition of your home PC to the root of your laptop's external drive.

NOTE: You will need to make your database updates/changes from one PC only and sync the results to the other (I.e: If you sync from your home PC to your laptop, any changes you make on the laptop will be lost.)

Instead of syncing everything, whats stopping you from just keeping all your music on the external drive, and only use the C: drive for the software and windows?

and then just carry the external/portable drive between computers...
