A local dealer that i am friends with is letting me try the Numark Mixdeck and I know some people on here have had luck with it working...so maybe i am not doing something right.

First off, the Ipod and CD decks work perfectly, as well as an instered USB flash stick.

Virtual DJ acknowledges and activates the Mixdeck but i am having a weird issue and i'm sure its something maybe i am not setting right. BAsicall i am using the same sound setup as i do with my NS7 which is flawless...

my sounds set up is:
Output: Headphones with Master channel 1/2, Headphones 3/4
Sound Card: ASIO with Numark Mixdeck selected as the sound device.

I load the first track on deck 1 and it plays and the deck functions properly. I load the next track on deck 2 and so far so good...
then usually within 4-5 tracks, I will load a track on deck one and it will play through deck 2 and then everything sort of stays that way.

I realize the mixer isn't midi, so maybe its the way I am using faders, etc.

Can anyone shed any light?

Sorry, I just did and think i found my answer... as opposed to the numark NS7, the mixdeck has to be set as an external mixer in the sound setup. will try that tonight! Thanks!
 
First post here. Just got my mixdeck working with virtual dj. Love it. I couldn't find the thread again that pointed me in the right direction, so thanks wherever you are. Hooked it up like an external mixer and everything works great. Scotty

Don't forget to purchase vdj next my friend. Hope to see you pro soon.
 
Oh yeah I am working on that. I am playing with my buddy's pc right now, but looking for a used laptop. I am in a little pickle though, since I want to work a small issue out with my mixdeck/VDJ combo, but I can't access the threads I think I need because I don't have enough posts. The deck lights that spin around don't work when I am controlling VDJ with MIDI. They do work with CDs or USB mp3. I think this is an issue with the mixer not being midi, but like I said before I can't access the thread I need. I definately like the look and feel of VDJ way better than the software that came with the mixdeck.
 
The issue is that you are not using the latest version and/or you may need a firmware upgrade from Numark.

But the LEDs do work with the latest version and proper firmware version.
 
Thanks. One little problem I need to resolve is internet connectivity with the pc I am using. Then I can upgrade everything. One other issue I found this morning is that there is some lag when controlling vdj as opposed to using CDs. I am coming from vinyl, so I don't know if this is to be expected, or if there is an issue with the hardware/software. I hope to pick up a laptop this week, so hopefully I can start tackling these issues.
 
Guys and gals,this might be repetetive but I feel stupid these past days as I've been reading the chain of discussion and watching You tube videos on how to map vdj to numark mixdeck but still can't get it to work...I'm running a vdj 6.1.2 pro on my Toshiba laptop.

I've done the following as per the inputs from other djs in the forum:

"I had the same problem..had virtual dj6.0...you gotta have VDJ 6.1.2 !!!then the mappers for the MIXDECK are there!! in virtual ,look in "config" then "mappers" ,then where it says "keyboard" just to the right you'll see a small box..click that and uncheck ALL boxes..and your available control mappers will pop up , (ex. vestax,hercules,etc.) if you don't see the Numark mixdeck there,you need a newer version of VDJ!! hope this helps someone."

and I also have these configurations..

"Inputs - None
Outputs - External Mixer Left deck: Chan1&2/Right deck: Chan3&4
Sound card - ASIO driver - Mixdeck ASIO driver
Ultra-latency checked"

But I still can't get it to work properly. When I manually (mouse and keyboard) load and play a song, it works,however, the only control that mixdeck has on the song is the cross fader and volume,nothing else. I need help.. if anyone experienced a similar problem,please let me know as I really want to get this working.. thanks in advance!!
 
anyone having problem with mixdeck crossfader making popping noise, when switching from right to left or vice versa

Did you put each deck source on to midi control ?
 
I had the same issue.

Fix is make sure your map is there
Make sure VDJ is closed
Power up Mideck, Set it to midi on both decks
Then power up VDJ

You should be good to go
 
Anyone please help i have the MixDeck running with VDJ.7 the problem i'm have is every time i play a song it's cool but once i switch it skip like it stop or sometimes the song might be playing it's stop between the song what u guys think might be the issue ? please help
 
Just wondering if anybody knew a good setup for mixdeck+trigger finger+ableton live
 
I have a the Mixdeck controller. Many times I use the Mixdeck to DJ parties without using the Virtual DJ Software. When I do this it gets hard for me to get accurate BPMs. I have tried to everything from pressing/holding the Tap button for 2 seconds to pressing the Tap button to the 4 beats of the song and yet it still takes a good 3 minutes or more to be accurate (if it does become accurate). I do not have three minutes or more to wait when I am DJ'ing. And even when I get an accurate BPM it then changes (not much but it changes). Is there another way I can obtain a better/faster and more accurate BPM on the Mixdeck without wait 3 minutes or more?

pressing the eject buttons swaps the decks to an X pattern (deck 1 is controlled with the right and deck 2 with the left), i believe this feature if for those that scratch, so you can scratch both decks with the same hand without crossing your arms...

Pressing the button again will swap them again to normal stage...

nope, you have to practice... I have and i can match beats in between 16 - 32 bars, but always beatmatch as soon as i can when playing live because once that is done you can just have a play with effects, loops etc...
 
Count the beat for 30 seconds then divide that by 2 and that's your bpm...........sometimes you gotta keep it old school ;-)

so i have my numark mixdeck but when i connect it to my laptop and try to use the virtual dj that came with it, it doesnt let me.
I have all the sound settings correct, everything is plugged in, and set but i cannot use it. Some one please help!
