Tópico: Analog vs digital mixer

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi I am using DAC-3 controller, an analog mixer connected to my computer with a delta-44 sound card. Record using soundforge.
I am looking into getting the hercules rmx just so I can be all digital.

I don't DJ live any more but use the setup to do my own mixed cd's, and distribute to friends.
Sound quality is important to me, therefore I would like to know if it would be better sound wise to go with the RMX being all digital or having the actual setup be just as good when recording?
TIA

in "theory" staying digital till the last moment is the best way to go..

oops.. let me correct that.. 2nd best.. the best way would be to stay digital ALL the way thru..

in practice though that rarely pans out.. (theirs always something that makes it unworkable)

Technically the RMX isnt that much more "digital" then what you have.. the difference is its setup to let VDJ do more of the mixing, but you can do the same thing now with keyboard shortcuts.. (IE: the only real difference is the soundcard is built in)

Usually the weakest link for audio quality is usually the mixer itself..

I would think the hardest part would be the file.. If your playing a 192 file but your recording at 256..

Ok I did some tests. I actually recorded a track through my virtualdj using my setup mixer delta44 soundforge etc.
When playing back the recorded track and the original track I can't here any difference.
Therefore using an analog mixer is not making much of a difference versus playing the unmodified original track.
Thanks for your input.
BTW I need to save the wav as a 44100 and 16 bit in order to play it in virtualdj, if I save it as a 24bit I get only a hiss...
But plays in media player...
Therefore since I do like my dac-3 and am comfortable with it I don't hink an investment in the hercules rmx is necessary at this time since I don't see any benefits.
