Is it just me... I would like to know the people here that have the Denon DN-S3700 , Do you use them
with timecode or with the midi mode..? I like them better with timecode. I have 3 usb ports on my laptop
in did not want to use a powered usb hub with them. But I would like to know what you all do..?

I use my denon 3700 with timecode before 6.08,didn't like it cause cue point on the fly sometimes off, better to press the laptop key.But since VDJ master the midi, its the greatest thing,I actually dont touch my laptop when playing,I can access almost everything in the software from my players which makes me one of the fastest DJ alive when it comes to mixing. You should try it,and you can also adjust or modify your mapper, better that timecode.
Unless you're going to use TT with novation dicer, where you can access your cue points, loops, sampler and thats another story.

raymond thanks good info... Would like to hear from more people as well...

I use mine only with time codes. I use the keyboard shorts to trigger what i want.

101% Midi ... better than time code .

hmm. if its THAT good. i might try midi mode before selling my VV soundcard.

I'm also running my players in Midi Mode; I find the later versions of virtual dj are far more responsive. Also as mentioned before, you have the ability to maniipulate the mapper to adapt to your needs making the laptop keys almost needless.

I use mine in midi mode I like having the control of everything from my TT. I did noticed the latency is a little better when I use timecode, not enough for me to go back to it though.

Actually if you have a beast like the 3700, you don't need much a software. Unless, you do Video, which VDJ is THE Best. Anyway, I like better for Decks use the MIDI. But love the timecode for the techies 1200.

Hi all,
I'm loving my 3700's but having an issue that you might beable to help me with. After about 15 to 30 minutes one of two things will happen. I'll get a crackling distorted sound on the right deck only, or the left deck will freeze up. I'm using midi with the players as a sound card. It's happend while using the computer as a sound card too. I've followed the thread instructions and scoured the forum for an answer but no luck. I'm using vista 32 4 gigs of ram, It's a new computer! any advice would be so great! Hurry! I'm running out of hair to pull out
Thanks,
Paul

If you are on Vista, you need to raise the jog wheel latency to 10ms from the default of 3ms.
That or upgrade to W7 which is what you really should consider.
Also click config and uncheck safe mode and over clock.
Move the performance lever to the left a little at a time till the noises stop.

Then see how things run for you.

Thanks man,
I think your right! Got to go with Windows 7.

Mp3Jrick is totally right on this one. Don't always see eye to eye with Mp3Jrick's decisions but Windows 7 is the answer to resolve this. Windows Vista has to be the worst Microsoft version for pro audio interfaces because you get alot of pops and crackles with high latency included.

200% Midi... and Loving it!!

keep your soundcard.. I use an external soundcard for one reason
if you switch back and forth from CD Mode to Midi Mode you lose the soundcard so if you plan on mixing with CDs also
then you run into an issue.

I don't like loading CDs in Virtual DJ, I have noticed various issues when using it.

Thanks,
DJ SMG

Vista gave me nothing but issues. even discovering the device gave me problems
W7 Works well but XP was the best in my experience.

Never had a ticket or discussion with you man, nor have you popped up on my radar...till now.

Point being what exactly?

Hey mp3rick,
Took your advice in my ticket and things are going great! none of the problems mentioned above. Still using vista! I can't afford windows 7, afterall I need beer money for the expo
Thanks for your help,
Paul

I've read the way you converse/ respond to certain persons/posts on the forum and don't agree with the manner in which you deal with things at times. Don't feel offended but its just my opinion and yes we've spoken through pm when one of my video post was taken off because it was deemed as audio porn. Sounds familiar.

Now I recall yes.
But first let me say that I help many more people here than I piss off before you throw me under the bus.

In this particular case, yes you posted a video of a bedroom dj scratching, one who spent a lot of time gawking at the webcam and even texting during his set.
Then he started with the content issue which Atomix as a corporation cannot host on an open forum that represents us.
I also went on to say that there are plenty of other forums and dj sites that this could be posted on.
And yes, I get a little irate with today's urban music being so lame that the best they can do is copy music from decades ago to call their own with a sexual flava that is tasteless.

And for sake of our viewing audience, below is my reply so they can see how it was handled in detail.

Message:
Did you listen to the lyrics?
Tell you what, start at 1:30 when he starts talking about his **** and what he's going to do her with it and that's where I draw the line.
Get real and grow up please, this ain't no 2am night club joint.

You know its too bad.
I mix hip hop, and I respect those who are talented enough to scratch and get it right.

But do it without the audio porn, that ain't happenin'

Have your friend do a clean set showing his skills and stop relying on shock lyrics to do it for him and we'd be happy to showcase it for him.

This is not some obscure hip hop anything goes website.
We are a major corporation in the music business and have a reputation to protect.
We don't like censoring posts, but when people push the limits its over.
Understand that and we'll get along just fine.

Message:
Here is what I suggest.
Have him do it again.
This time, do a shorter mix
Tell him to not gawk at the camera, it looks foolish.
Have the camera pointed at his decks.
Tell him not to text during his mixes and pretend he has 1000 ppl in front of him.
Don't play the tracks out full, mix out after the first verse of the song using the chorus to shorten it up.
Also tell him to use clean material, there is no reason for f and n bombs and sexual content.
A good HH scratcher can juggle a drum and bass sample for hours and impress people.

I've seen the best of the best HH scratchers in the world work.
Youtube is loaded with demo reels of scratching and mixing, use that as an example.

I am all over the Serato forum, home of the HH world's best dj's.
Have him check out a few of the mixes over there to get some tips and ideas.
Then come back and impress us.

Rick
