I am looking for a clarification.
In Atomixmp3 at the top middle there is an Auto (Automix) button. If you have the Automix Length option set to "No Mix" in settings, when you click the Auto button the software will immediately move the fader button from one channel (ex. left to right) to the other (no timed fading). Is there a setting, option and button to do the same in VirtualDj Pro? Or do you have to use the keyboard or mouse to manually move the fader slide button from one channel to the other? I see no 1click button that will move (no mix) the slider fader in VirtualDj Pro like the Auto Button does in Atomixmp3. I have read through the VirtualDj Pro manual several times and looking at the pictures but see nothing that indicates a similar feature and button (direct cut from one channel to the other without fade, delay or mix). Can anyone advise me on whether there is the same feature in VDP or not?
Thanks for your help.

It happens, remember for a while now there is only the one deck automix, in my opinion a much better way of working things so it may be a bit alien to you for a while, you can set the fade/crossover length in config

Dual-deck automix is still possible if you assign a key on your keyboard to the action automix_dualdeck (See http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4149/VDJscript_Mapping.html for instructions on how to map.)
However, this is depreciated so we would not recommend using this. Dual-deck automix was replaced a long time ago by a far more flexible single-deck automix.

Thanks guys. I can understand the concept of single deck mixing, but maybe not the mechanics yet (so then why is there the other deck and channel, what's its purpose) I have a few questions. I don't think I am referring to Automix (isn't that like autopilot with a list of tracks in a auto-cue?) I think I am referring to just mixing manually where I control the start of the next track with no fade.
With single deck mix or auto mix how do you cue (listen to) the next track you may or may not want to play? Doesn't it need to be on the other deck? If so that is where I would hit the mix button and the fader would pop over to the next deck and instantaneously begin to play. With one deck, can the next track be instant on and can I hit some button that will allow me to determine when to start that next track? Also, in Atomixmp3 by using the cut mix option I could completely decide when I wanted the next track to take off. With one deck how does that work? The one deck auto mix sounds alot like the automix playlists of the old software, that could be set to auto-play, but in live mixing I don't think many dj's would set the system on auto pilot and leave or just set arouind. I don't anyway. Please clue me in on the process of how I could get the same results with VDP as I do with Atomixmp3.
What are all the options for fader/crossover settings in VDP?
Thanks for your help.............

Single deck mixing is only for when using the automix feature - I.e: Load a list of songs into the playlist and allow the software to mix them itself unattended (Ideal for background music, songs between Karaoke singers, etc.)
If you are mixing manually, then you would load the song on to the other deck (The one not currently playing out live) and match the tempo (BPM) with the other deck. You will need a DJ sound card with multiple outputs or two sound cards to be able to headphone pre-listen to the song that you are cueing up.
When the appropriate time comes, you would start the song playing and then crossfade across to it.
If you wanted to do this automatically, then you can assign a key on your keyboard to the action: mix_now
For instructions on how to map this, please see http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4149/VDJscript_Mapping.html
NOTE: There may be custom skins that have a Mix Now button on them for this action: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/skins.html

IP,
Yes this is what I am getting at. Thanks for the clarification and your time to help in figuring this out. I only use automix for dinner or background, probably like most of you. But for "live music" I always do manual and with Atomixmp3 the "Auto" button at the top would allow me to "play now" (no fading) when I chose which IS a sweet 1 touch operation. It appears to me that with VDP it is 2 or more buttons to do the same thing (and a sec or 2 instead of instant), unless of course there are skins as you suggested there maybe, that would have the 1touch button like in Atomixmp3. If there are would these skins be reliable without any negative software effect on VDP? I am also concerned with your statement about this depreciating option of mapping a key. Would you elaborate? If I move to VDP I don't want to have a less than "usual" quality to mixing. I just think that with the 2 decks (which is what I would use) even with the mouse to hit play on the next track deck and then go grab and move the fader button over is cumbersome, more time and much less efficient. My crowds generally like the clean cut with no air gaps rather than fading for 3 to 15 secs or any length of time. As such you can see why I was hoping for an "auto" 1 touch to immediately "now" play the next track. What are your recommendations?
Grateful,
Mack

Mack, go to config > options at the bottom right hand corner you can select your fade crossover time with the slider, from zero to whatever, it's up to you.

In config, options, crossfader it only had a few choices and zero (I assume that is cut, now or immediate) is not an option or there. Would that be because it is not part of the trial version? I wonder if that's the whole problem or issue of not being able to do what I do with atomixmp3, in VDP? Any ideas?

Thank you jpboggis. Finally got the duel deck mix working with the suggested above. thanks for finally helping me getting ride of that single deck crap. Now i can finally see the next song title and all again.
