Tópico: Ns7 / NsFX / Win7 64bit with vdj 6.1

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I have an issue here guys which I hope you gurus can assist me. I recently bought the Numark NsFX with the intention of applying effects/transitions to my mixes. Upon attaching the device, I initially opened Serato Itch and saw where an additional GUI was place within the Itch Interface, not that I found very cool. I messed around with it and all the functions were nice, plus with ease of use coupled with the GUI interacting with me, man I was overwhelmed with happiness.
Now I was ready for my preferred mixing application, VDJ 6.1 which I was all excited to use, especially seeing the buzz on the forums about the NsFX being natively supported AND … :( (SIGHS)
Firstly, I saw no additional interface for the user which was a BIG disappointment. Then I attempted to use the functions of the device within VDJ, the only success I have so far is to do a loop on the active deck when I activate the FX button. Also the faders on the NsFX which are use to blend the effects on the assigned deck in Itch are crossfading DECK A and DECK B in VDJ. WTF? I took a look at the MIDI setup in the config tab and saw three devices
• Ns7
• NsFX
• Keyboard
Toggling among all three did not produce a difference. Is there some varied configuration which I need in order for the NsFX to work seamlessly?
I have searched forums but to date I have not seen any thread which informs me on setting up this device. Please assist me in doing so and thanks in advance guys.

I don't own 1 so I can't tell you what's wrong, but why can't you just remap it to do what you want it do? I mean if you can see it under the mapper tab then I'm sure it can be done. I use a midi mixer and NanoKontrol with the keyboard and I don't think it really matters what order there in. As far as an interface I think this would be more along the lines of skins. Like some could make a skin and add the graphic to it then map it out. Idk I'm sure a pro will chime in.

Just my thoughts

Here is what the mapping does ...

The mapping of the Numark NSFX that takes full advantage of the Source selection knob to provide access to not only FX, but Video and Mixer controls.

SOURCE Knob on A - Left Deck
You have access to the FX as labeled on the NSFX. If you press the SELECT knob it toggles the controls into Sampler control mode.
If right deck Source on A the right deck controls only have access to control Deck A's FX - not sampler

SOURCE Knob on B - Right Deck:
You have access to the FX as labeled on the NSFX. If you press the SELECT knob it toggles the controls into Sampler control mode.
If left deck Source on B the right deck controls only have access to control Deck B's FX - not sampler

TAP - Beat Tap
FX Mode -
FX - Activate the FX
FX_PARAM - FX Slider 2
FX_MIX - FX Slider 1
FX_SELECT - Select the Effect

SAMPLER Mode -
FX - Sample Activate
FX_PARAM - Sampler Volume
FX_MIX - Nothing
FX_SELECT - Select the Sample bank

SOURCE Knob on AUX - Control the Video Features
TAP - Activate Video Transition
FX - Activate the Video FX
FX_PARAM - Select the Video FX
FX_MIX - control the video crossfader
FX_SELECT - Select the Transition

SOURCE Knob on MAIN - Enhanced Loop and Audio Crossfader
TAP - Reloop Exit
FX - Loop
FX_PARAM - Loop Half (turned left) : Loop Double (turned right)
FX_MIX - control audio crossfader
FX_SELECT - Loop Move

The TAP LED will indicate what mode you are in -
If in the matching sides deck mode - Left on A and Right on B - then the Tap LED responds to get beat action in WHITE
If in the opposite side deck mode - Left on B and Right on A - then the Tap LED has the steady blink in RED
If in AUX - then the Tap LED is ON in RED
If in MAIN - then the Tap LED is ON in WHITE

Sounds like you did not turn the source knobs (on both sies of the NSFX) to "Main" which is your loop control and then back to the deck you want (A for left deck and B for right deck - to control effects). You need to "calibrate" those source knobs every time you open VDJ.

First note - You can't use the effect knobs to chage the effect in the skin. They only control the selected effect if you go into the "Effect Browser Window" not to be confused with the effect slot on the skin itself. Everything else works as expected.

Second note - As listed above, pay attention the the "Tap" lights on the NSFX.
White = Loop mode
Red = Video mode
flashing white = could be either sample of effect mode - read the above map for it to make sense

It is a bit over welming to get use to. Once you do, you will soon realize the power that VDJ unleashes in that NSFX. Then try going back to Itch, you will see how held back Itch really is! Again that map is a nice piece of work Csoll.

Recent issue popped up. I have not used the Sample side of the NSFX in a while. I went to use it last night and it does not appear to be working for me. I can't use it to change volume of the sample, play or select the sample. All other modes work fine (Loop, Effect, Video)

To see if I did something, I removed my map from the folder so it would load the default config. It still did not work for only samples. Any ideas?

I am now running Win 7 64 bit and have not used it on this PC at all yet.
