Hi Guy's
I'm looking for a program that renames your MP3 tracks:)
You know when you get a MP3 track with just "Track 1" and haven't a clue what it is or the name on the track is completly wrong.
I'm just wondering is there any program out there that listens to the track and renames it for you.
Any Help
Jay

if you have a iPhone you could play the track and use Shazam to to get the tile and singer....
Maybe Shazam is available for other devices......

When buying mp3's from itunes you only get the artist name and not the track name.

I have that problem too. Usually I am forced to keep them that way if they do work through Genius or I have to listen to it & input the information myself.
I tend to be lazy I just way until I actually need the song and then make the changes, which I don't know I need until I am choosing songs within the same BMP parameters.

sorry
I apologize then..
I actually didnt know people were still using rippers that didnt retrieve the Artist - title..
(IE: I simple assumed you stole them and didnt have the original CD so you could re-rip them with the proper tags)
If you have the original CD's then thats great!!!
A cheap easy ripper is that many people use is Windows Media player... though... if you use compilation CD's like ERG or 'Promo only' its not so great..
best free ripper I have found is something called CDex
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDex
It uses the free online CD database, but It seems to get 3/4's of the CD's right..
the really great thing is it can automatically split the Artist - Title correctly for each track on a compilation CD!
it will also correctly input the tags into the mp3 file..
and it allows you to rip at 320kbps! (recommended for DJ's)
did I mention this program is completely free?
IF you also ripped ALL THE TRACKS from a CD and they are still together (in the same folder)
you can also use Tag N Rename to retrieve the correct Artist - Title online..
This will only work if all the tracks are together.. Tag and rename does this by having you type in the artist and picking out the correct album title, and then goes to each track (IE: from 1 to 15) and renames them..
If the tracks are wrong, are missing, or you pick the wrong album, then of course this can make things worse...
personally I would just re-rip the CD's... its pretty fast with todays computers..

But the embedded tags are correct (year, title, artist, album, etc) and using something like Tag N Rename, a person can automatically have the Filename itself corrected
