Tópico: Mid-DJ Crisis

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I am normally not a forum guy but I am running out of option to get some experienced opinions and help.

I have about 8 years in as a DJ. I have always been more on the mobile side using CD's, MP3's, Video and Karaoke. I used to do a little mixing with friends equipment but nothing as a "performance." I have a great collection of music and everything. I am at a point where I feel bored with it and want to step it up.

My experience with beat mixing is very limited and I am not at all comfortable doing it with a keyboard. What would be some good hardware to get to work with VDJ? A friends of mine uses the Remix but it just doesn't feel like it has a good presence, if you follow me on that. 2 turntable always look/feel awesome, but I am not up to date on the technology including timecodes.

Keep in mind I am just looking to try something new, I want to keep cost down until I know if I am going to run with it. I am open to any ideas, including USB "All-In-Ones."

Thanks ahead of time for your help on getting me a little more ahead of the competition!

there's a lotta great stuff out there

i just got an OmniControl from Numark and i like it

i am not too sure it's possible to keep the price down AND try out turntables .....?

so i would say try some controllers out and see what you like

a lot of people at this forum use the Herc RMX and Numark devices , but there

are many other possibilities

i think you would like to evolve to where your mixing and performance would be valued and a draw ?

i am new to controllers and trying to learn what i can from my first little controller , haven't really taken off the training wheels

my strategy is my usual ..... just make the best decision from the info at hand , and work with that for awhile ......

to borrow a phrase from one of my drum heroes , Terry Bozzio , "enjoy the process"

you might want to get an ordinary common controller and get really fluent with that before trying turntables .....

I go for the best of both worlds with the Denon DN HC 4500 midi controller. This controls Virtual DJ and my Denon CD drawers as back up. All this linking into a Denon DNX 500 mixer

The American Audio VMS4 isa medium-priced controller that's nice and tactile and has the flexibility to let you plug your decks, CDs or whatever thorugh it and use it like a normal mixer too.

the VMS4 looks very cool .....

i'd still like to try iCDX's ......

i am also interested in the Vestax 's .......

i have used high end Denon cd players in the past and they were great

i have liked some really great denon subwoofers also ......

Own the Omni, iCDX, Vestax VCI-300, RMX, Total Control along with various others odds and ends related to VDJ DJing. If you do not have a soundcard and are on a budget the RMX is your best bet. My iCDX is a two player system in a coffin with a DXM01usb mixer. It gets used every weekend, and has lots of miles on it. That being said it is still a solid performer.

Personally I love my VCI-300. It does EVERYTHING I WANT with no headaches. It has the added advantage of being customizable, via StyleFlip. This coming from an old DJ. I learned how to mix in the mid-80s. Now I mix no matter what the temperature. Turntables are still fun, but to move around I will never go back to that headache. Heck, if I was the one using the iCDX set up every week I'd have switched to the RMX.

First figure out what your budget is the look for the equipment within that budget.
Like Tear I have had allot of the different controllers, of them all
my favorite was the icdx.. some people had issue with them but it was great for me

I currently use the DN-S3700 with the DN-X1600 Mixer
which work great but it's not perfected as of yet

this is a combination of firmware and vdj's support..
but I have to working to where I will sound great and get paid... LOL!

I currently have vci-300 and quite happy with it. Only problem is asio4all which is not very low latency and not being able to play music and use mic at the same time. Looking a replacement, either small one like vestax typhoon or bigger one like vms4. Maybe I buy em both. Typhoon for smaller gigs and vms4 for bigger ones.
