Why is it when my music changes from song to song my gain jumps up or down sometimes dramatically. I have gone into the options tab and changed the gain to REMEMBER but it still jumps is this a bug or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks Gang

not a bug..
its supposed to do that.. (if I understand your description)
On a mixer the "gain" knob is what you use to set all inputs to 'unity'.. IE: lets say you had three inputs, CD player, mic, and a guitar..
you would set the faders (or volume faders) to '0' (or 0 dB) or 'unity gain' and then use the 'gain' knob to make all the input levels/volume the same.. (this way, as you set your levels, you are not forced to remember and compensate for the different output volumes of the different equipment)
in VDJ's case, it scans the song and looks for the largest peak, it then automatically sets the 'gain' so the volume of that song is close to 0 dB ..
another way to put it is, VDJ uses the 'gain' to normalize the songs.. IE: if you play 10 songs in a row, you should not have to touch the VOLUME control or fader on the decks because the volume has already been 'normalized'..
hopefully this makes sense.. and kinda explains why the gain is different for each song..

It there a way to lock this out...
I have most of my music with 0 gain within the file...
Having one sound jump up isn't cool...

You could disable auto gain in CONFIG -> Options though if you wish.

Do I need to load each song, then adjust gain so that it remembers for the next time I use VDJ 6.1

No, you ideally need to pre-analyse your music collection as advised in the link above.
Or if you are loading a song for the first time, wait for it to load in full before playing it.

I got it thanks gang thanks.. When using VirtualDJ 6Pro 1024x600 I can't get the fader to only play the right side when slid over to the right and left side when slid to the left. How do I lock this in?

If you have the VIDEO panel selected, then the crossfader will be the video crossfader only by default. Click on the word Video Crossfader to change it to the audio crossfader, then click on the padlock icon to link it to video crossfader.
