OK, go to C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\VirtualDJ and look for a file named "VirtualDJ Database v6.xml". Next right-click on it and hit copy. It will seem like nothing has happened but trust its copied now. Next open whatever folder your going to save it to and right-click again and hit "Paste". Boom there it is.
See nothing to it. You should do this about once a week anyways so incase something happens you always have a fresh copy and dont have to worry about re scanning all your tracks again. Also put it some where other then your gig machine. If that goes then all of that backing up would be for nothing, know what I'm sayin............
Hope this helps

Don't forget to backup all your music drive databases. These XML files are in the root directory of each drive. Easy to find.
I wish VDJ would come up with a naitive macro that would push everything to a networked back-up machine, and be able to clone with 1 or 2 button clicks. Right now it's a chore.
I used to run 2 machines with XP and cloning was achievable. Now one is Vista (yuck) and the other is XP. I had to move to Vista because of video playback issues on the laptop. Now things are a bit more complicated to clone. Actually I haven't tried the XP<>Vista clone project yet, but I should do it as next project tonight.
It would be nice to have a simple way to move current work from my studio PC over to my gig Laptop. I'll spend hours on my Studio PC and then could definetly use a quick effortless way to transfer this work to the gig machine. You know like Virtual folders, Filters, Samples, Cue Marks... etc.
The need is to focus more time on the music and not as much time on the mechanics. Backups on these gig computers should be a major focus point. We all know how easy it is for something to go wrong with this stuff. Any why manually duplicate one machine to another when this can be done via programming.
Vote Versiion 7.000001 the cloning release. :)
