HY their guys, does anybody use an external usb hub? unfortunately when i bought my mac book I didn't pay attention to all the specifications and I ran into a little problem now. I only have two USB ports and I need at least two more but I just wanted anyones input on it, or advice/ I wanted to end up getting a wireless network card so I don't have have to worry about internet connection when i'm out on a gig to have access to net search. I currently use the two outputs for my controller and external hard drive. i wanted to know Does it slow it down I heard that you can lose data when you try to transfer from one port to another? is this true?

I used to have the same problem you're facing right now 2 months ago. I went to a computer store and bought the Targus USB hub Model ACH105 that provides me 4 USB ports. It worked fine with any hardware such as hard drive, controller etc...However it will not work with interface or sound card since that piece of gear require direct communication with the operating system.I connected the Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ or Rane SL1 in one USB port and plug the Targus USB hub into the other USB port on my Macbook.I connected the Akai APC 40 and the Denon HC1000S through the Targus USB hub and I was ready to rock the party. I've never noticed any slowdown or interruption when playing a song straight from the hard drive. Always eject the hard drive before you disconnect it to prevent losing data.

Same deal here. 4 port hub with external power source for my controller, external hard drive, and wireless mouse receiver. Other USB port is designated to my sound card (NI Audio 2 that works great with VDJ7 btw).
Always ready to rock the club with no hassles!

I have a macbook with only 2 usb ports, I bought a 4 port external hub from walmart for around $10. My C3usb has 2 usb outs, DMC2 has 1 and my external are all plugged into the hub and I use the other usb port on my macbook for my wireless mouse. Works fine!

yes you want it to be powered

Yes it has to be powered, and make sure all the ports are high speed. My first powered hub had 2 high speed and 2 regular speed. I did not know at the time, that drives needed high speed. That's why it was cheaper. Took it back to Staples and got the high speed one. It cost $30.00 bucks, but all four ports could handle drives. Worked like a charm.
