I believe its the X7 is still in R&D, last release date I hear was around December or January.
I have not used a DN-X1600 but I did own a DN-X1700 and they are very similar mixers, I would highly recommend them. There's also the DN-X600 that just came out, its has a lot of the same features found on the DN-X1700 and DN-X1600 but in a 2 channel mixer format.

@ gibbsy,I just purchased the Denon Dn x1600, its really sweet, the sound is superb channels and faders are nice, very well built. It also has some really top notch effects. I had a little trouble setting it up at first but I was trying to do to much with it. I have it working now and its kicking some major booty. Its gonna take me a while to get used to though because Im coming from the world of controllers. I side note is that input channel 1 on the mixer is only cd1 and cd2, this means you cannot use a dual timecode vinyl setup with VDJ (yet) because this mixer is not coded yet, and doesn't really work with advanced settings. Its pricey, but its loaded with features and awesomeness, the midi is a cool feature too, Im mapping pitch_sliders,play_pause, stop_cue, loop_in, loop_out, and Pitch_reset to mine. Like i said its weird coming from using an RMX with all those features with buttons readily handy on the unit.

I'm a proud owner of this great mixer too. Yeah, doing the settings for the first time is a bit complicated. I have to go back and forth on the manual on the first couple of days that I got it. But once you got use to it, you'll gonna love it, great sounding and has a lot of features. I use it with 4decks (2 timecode CDs). Just a heads up though, it's midi function via USB is not working with the latest VDJ7 on Mac OS 10.6.4, but with the 5pin midi-out it does. With VDJ6 everything works both with Mac and PC. 'Hope this issue will be resolved on the release of VDJ 7.0.1.
