Tópico: NS7, VDJ7 Issues

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

It's been a while since I've both 1) been here and 2) played with VDJ and the NS7. I've searched the forums here for some answers and either found nothing, or too much. Rather than sort through 421 bagillion pages of data, hopefully this will work. I'm running a MBP with Bootcamp/XP. [MBP 10.6.4, 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB]

1) Playback: I notice that as soon as I start a track, it will start playing, EVEN WHILE holding the vinyl to prevent play. It takes a few seconds to bring the track back to the beginning. The platter spins as it should, so there's just a vinyl control issue here.

2) Scratching: I notice a good amount of drifting, even after tweaking latency settings. Are there suggested optimum settings? I saw the thread ("How to make your NS7 work flawlessly" or something, but the first post wasn't THAT relative to actual settings)

3) Sound Card: In another thread, I noticed an "ASIO" setting in the sound card. I do not have this. Is it something relative to Win/MAC machines, or XP/Vista/W7 OS's?

4) Firmware: I upgraded to Itch 1.7, but ran into the known CPU/audio drop-out issue so reverted back to 1.5. Is NS7 firmware incorporated into the software upgrades, or is there a separate process for this? There wasn't much info on the Numark NS7 page. I only ask to make sure the equipment is up-to-date.

Wow, 35 hits and no replies. This may be due to the fact that a lot of post are already out there about this controller, some in the last few weeks. What version of VDJ are you using, and what does the firmware for Itch have to do with VDJ? The new ver 7 offers some enhancements for the NS7, and most users seem to be very pleased. I do not own this controller, but have seen it in action, and can tell you it works very well with VDJ. Take another look around and see if you can find the answers you need. If not, I am sure that another user will reply. It is the weekend.

RC1 v.1.7.1 was release.. You might want to give it a try, it's pretty solid.

1) If your NS7 is set to i believe instant start the track will start right away but it will take a few seconds for it to respond to the platter. Having it the other way your track will have a ramp up start.

2) There are threads that talk about NS7 settings for this, I will plug my NS7 and screenshot my settings maybe this can help.

3) Try installing ASIO4ALL on your computer. Maybe this can help bring up that ASIO portion to the audio config. Here's a screenshot of the config.

4) I have not upgraded my firmware so I cannot comment on this.

Have you tried running VDJ on Mac OSX and not bootcamp/XP?

I really wish the VDJ forums had a better way to read/check new posts. All this time I've been thinking there were no replies.

Indeed there are a lot of posts, but none that I could find that were relative to my specific problems. As stated in the title, I'm using Version 7 of VDJ. I'm not absolutely sure about NS7 firmware version, as I don't know of an exact way to check. I do know that I was running Itch 1.5, then did 1.7 which included some SERIOUS audio drop-out issues (as I found out firsthand). I rolled back to 1.5 and run that now. I'm skeptical to run with 1.7.1 because there are still some known audio issues, and frankly, this is not acceptable for me as I play out for hundreds, sometimes thousands of people. If I were a bedroom DJ, then I'd let it slide.

On the contrary. There are more "same problem" replies then there are "no problems" in the RC thread on Serato. As mentioned above, I'm not taking the risk.

1) & 2): Not sure how I missed a "settings" thread, but I will check again. A screenshot should help and would be appreciated.

3): Definitely don't have any ASIO settings. I was thinking it was something native. I will try to install it and see how it goes.

4): There are discussions here about VDJ running very well on Bootcamp. I didn't like the feel of it with OSX, but indeed, I do try both versions for process of elimination.

A quick follow-up:

I spent the time since my last post, updating things here and there and after some quick tweaking, it seems to be running ok. Still a slightly laggy, but I'll sit and play with latency at length later on, although I'm pretty sure I have it set correctly.
