There's a retail outlet that began carrying Warfedale speaker products. Since they're not normally sold in Canada I'm not familiar with them; Can some of you fellows from Europe or UK enlighten me about them?
How long do they last?
How's their service when they do break down?
Do you own any - if not why?
I'm looking at the Titan series 12" powered tops and 15" inch powered sub.
Thanks

Wharfedale? are a good respected company, they often catrer to the low end of audiophile stuff and they do some higher end stuff too, but they make some amazing stuff, just be choosey and use google to search for a few reviews for any your into.
I dont know if id buy there stuff for djing and probably spend a bit more elsewhere.

My buddy sells them at Karaoke Closet in Hamilton.
They sounded decent in the store. All of our rigs run Peavey speakers.
But judging from what I heard when he demo's them they were respectable.
I didn't hear the sub though so can't comment on that. I though it was a little pricey for what it was , although I like the size/footprint of it. Perfect for mobile gigs.

I still have 2 pairs of Wharfdale Diamond 4's from my first surround system I built in 1991!!! Cracking little speakers, was thinking of using them when I put my studio together as their are monitor sized. However they are passive so need an amp, but considering the quality of these babies it'll be worthwhile!

I use some Wharfedale Pro 15s. They are active and work great for the price. The top end protection also works well. One did a sommersault in the van once and the woofer stopped working but genuine replacement woofer was cheap and easy to fit. There are probably better sounding speakers but not in this price range when I was looking. Also have great options incl bass, treble, mic and stereo rca line ins on each speaker. I sometimes use them when the customer wants to play their own cds early by just plugging in a cd player direct to the back of one.
I was dubious at first but after two years of hard mobile gigging with these, I have to recommend them.
The subs not so much - tend to rattle themselves apart I've found. Glued and added some strengthening to mine and they sound much better now.
Wharfedale used to make high end speakers in England like the big Energys back in the 70s/80s, which are sort after. However all their stuff is mass produced now and its nowhere near as good - just using the name.

I used to have a set of Wharfedale Lintons many years ago :)
I've no experience with the current range though I'm afraid.

I've been using the wharfedale pro 15 active for house parties and cafe bars. They are surprisingly clear at high volume and very bassy. Here in Montreal you can pick up a pair for about $900 I believe. I don't waste my time with their active subwoofers. I tried the A15 once and never again. The sound was timid and it overheated frequently. Conclusion, great speakers for small mobile gigs but that's about it. I.M.O the sub does not match the mid's performance.

In this pic I attached you can see that I prefer to use them daisy chained 2 by 2 or I'll get a JBL PRX sub instead. Not a bad buy especially if your gigs are typically smaller venues. You could even use them in sets of two as tops with another reliable sub for bigger venues. I can't knock the 15. I rent them so as for repairs and longevity I can't help. Hope this gives you some peace of mind.

Similar standard to Peavey, I would say Warfedale is slightly better as PV has died of death over the last ten years.
I have a pro series 12" wedge monitor, it sounds cold and when you try to warm it up with a little bass it distort's but then it does what I wan't it to do. Mainly if someone want's to make speaches or play an ipod early doors before reception, I took it in p/x.
All in all I think it's ok for the money and I have seen a few using this brand in recent years.

Warfedale loudspeakers were origionaly designed and built in the UK and were considered among the best at that time. Still have a pair of XP2's as monitors in my workshop and they have stood the test of time pretty well. After a disasterous period in the ownership of the Rank Corperation they ,allong with most of the Brit manufacturers, are now made in China and are just a brand name now.
Don't let this put you off though. As a budget pa speaker they are as good as any in there price range. Warfdale HIFI speakers continue to be well respected and there is a good dealer network and support for them.
As with anything you get what you pay for.
