just thought i would check to see if your personal music selection differs from your working music selection, i usually work with hip hop-RnB and mix tape with gospel/christian,, but in my relaxation time i listen to smooth jazz (brian culbertson style music) tell us if your personal differs or is it the same.

My personal library is mostly reggae, I do incorporate some of it for work also.

I usualy listen to contemporary Christain music in the vehicle on the way to and from gigs, My default genre is Rock/Alt. I like a lot of country music too. My gigs are always Mainstream Hip hop, Rap, Pop, Country with a little rock every now and then. When I'm working I just play what will keep the dance floor busy and don't dig into my personal favorites unless the bar is just dead.

i agree, my "favorite" jazz cuts i wont even play at a wedding i jst feel like i wouldnt have a seperation from work and play at that point..

My working library is mostly; HipHop, Top 40, Rock, Pop and a bit of Latin, Reggae and Oldies.

My personal library is Smooth Jazz (ie, fusion, Diana Krall, David Sanborn, Dave Koz, Spyro Gyra, Earl Klugh, Rippingtons, Basia, Yellowjackets etc) and Classical music.

My request rate is over 86% which is higher than the industry average, yet once in a while I get a complainer about NOT playing their request. I solve it handily but sharing that they will never hear my personal fav. (see above) music, which is always sacrificed at my gigs for the benefit of my customers. At this point they quit complaining about not hearing their particular request, :)

DJ mackjazz; I love Basia; I love her voice and all her hits. I also love Sade just as much.

I play everything from Top 40, Pop, Rock, Alternative, Indie, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Trance, Techno, Dance, Doo Wop, Oldies, 70's, 80's, Soca, Calypso, Instrumentals, World Music, Dancehall. I also listen to all genres of music. I loved all types of music before I became a DJ, so I am doing a job that I absolutely love, it's not just for money.
