Hi mates,
I mix using VDJ 7 Pro with a Hercules RMX.
The venue that I will be playing at has a Citronic Pro-3 DJ Mixer ( http://www.citronic.co.uk/product/171.130UK ) which is connected to their amp and sound system.
1. Can I connect the RCA 1/2 output on the RMX to the RCA 1/2 input on the Citronic mixer and have sound sent properly to the speakers?
I could always connect the RMX directly to the AMP, but would prefer to just use one set of cables and patch in to the Citronic mixer already in place.
2. Also, by running sound to an external mixer before the amp, will this help reduce ground loop hum?
Cheers,
A

For the best connection go from the 2 1/4" jacks on the back of the RMX to the RCA's on the mixer.
The RCA outputs on the RMX are "consumer grade" levels -4dB if my memory serves me correctly. The 1/4" jacks are +10dB and closer to that of a CDJ so you will get better gain on the mixer.
Cheers,
Roy

Roy,
Cheers for the quick reply and the answer to my question.
Will this cable do the trick?

Do you have any other recommendations?

Cable is perfect - looks very well shielded.
Nothing esle needed. This will do you fine.
Only other recommendation is to run the mic from the club mixer not the RMX. RMX mic support is nasty at the best of times.
Cheers,
Roy

Thanks mate... one final question... do you think I should employ my ground loop eliminator?
Configuration 1:
RMX (output 1&2 1/4" stereo) -> (input 1&2 1/4" stereo) Ground Loop Eliminator (output 1&2 1/4" stereo) -> (input 1&2 1/4" stereo to RCA cable) Citronic Mixer
or
Configuration 2:
RMX (output 1&2 1/4" stereo) --> (input 1&2 1/4" stereo to RCA cable) Citronic Mixer
I have used the RMX several times before on a PA system with an external amp and there was quite a bit of buzz. Hence why I have a ground loop eliminator and why I'm thinking about using it.
Any thoughts?

Hum is usually from the lappy's power supply.
No harm taking it with you. Make sure you get there in plenty of time to test with and without. If you can't do a proper sound check, just use it. Won't do any harm.
I chose to get a 3rd party power supply with no earth. Problem was solved immediately.
Cheers,
Roy

Good advice... will post back here after sound check and the night's performance for any others that may have these questions.
Thank you again.

Hey Roy,
The sound check went well tonight.
There was no ground loop hum with the recommended stereo to RCA cable.
I noticed that the volume was a bit low though.
Do I sacrifice a bit of sound when connecting the RMX to a second mixer?

Depends what you are comparing the output to. If you are comparing a CDJ-1000 I think they output at +16dB and the RMX at +10dB so you only sacrifice a little - but that is what the channel gain is for - to equalise the outputs accross all channels - not to get as much volume as possible out the of the mixer!!!!
If you'd have used the RCA to RCA you would have been way down at they output at -4dB.
Cheers,
Roy

I've used this cobo in the clubs a lot and there is a huge difference in volumes between the two, it's ok saying adjust the trim/gain but sometimes there isn't sufficient headroom in the system.

Which combo Charlie? RCA's or Jacks?
I agree on the RCA's but with Jacks, not so much.

Hey there...
I just wanted to report back that the Jack to RCA solution worked great.
Sound was clean (no ground loop hum) and the volume levels gave me enough room to work throughout the night.
