Hey, i know topics like this are posted all the time, but it's finally my turn to invest some money in to this hobbie and I don't want to screw it up, so any advice from experienced people would be greatly appreciated.
I want to get a beginner's controller to run with my macbook. It will mostly be used for bedroom use and the occasional dance party we throw at our house, so I don't need anything fancy. That being said, a built-in soundcard for cueing feels like a must for me.
I guess I'd like to spend around $150, but could go up to 200 or so. There are just so many products that could be the one for me but I can't be sure. The behringer bcd3000 seems kind of attractive because of its price, but I've heard about problems with it.
I also wouldn't mind getting virtual dj le wth the product to possibly upgrade to pro.
any advice would be greeeatly appreciated, thanks a bundle.

You should avoid the BCD3000 - Most users have nothing but problems with the BCD series of controllers. They also do not include VirtualDJ LE.
You should consider a Hercules DJ Console such as MK4 or RMX. These come with VirtualDJ LE and can be upgraded to Pro at a discount.

I would also recommend hercules line of dj controllers, the hercules controllers allow you to upgrade to vdj pro at a discount.

I see the Numark Mixtrack Pro could be quite a contender as well - big touch sensitive jogwheels, onboard soundcard, and it ships with Virtual DJ LE (in the UK at least, might be Traktor elsewhere!), all for £169. Ok, so maybe not as solidly-built as some of it's competitors, but very good value from what I've seen.
