Hi all,
Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the Behringer B215D speakers I bought before xmas in case there are some people considering a new purchase. In direct comparison to these I guess for an entry level powered speaker you could compare them to the Mackie Thumps.
I was initially going to buy the Thumps because of what everyone was saying how good they were etc. There was a special going for the B215D which made it impossible to ignore so yeah I got them.
I have a pair of jbl jrx125's floor standing speakers powered by a crown amp. The intention of buying the speakers was to downsize to make it easier for stairs and not so back breaking work. I've had a couple gigs using them now. And for my life I can't believe the sound that comes out of them. I've set them at half gain level on each speaker and then running the volume level just past halfway on my mixer and its crazy loud. I think they actually pump more sound than my jbl's. I can't be exactly sure if its because they on stands but man I'm impressed.
I won't bother going into the nonsense of bass etc. If you want deep bass sound you will obviously need a sub or 3 way speaker. In that case I will do it but obviously the client will pay the extra $. The low end is reasonable by my standards. Otherwise these speakers are perfect for the majority of gigs I do. I play mainly Top 40 mainstream music.
Another thing I have noticed on the top of the speakers is a threaded hole to mount something? Anyways the plan is to mount my lights on top of them instead of carrying around a t-bar light stand. Very convenient.
Downside about the speakers is the shape. Theres no stackable corners and because they are a kinda triangular curve. This makes it a hassle when loading your car/cart trolley when space is a premium because you can't stack stuff on top. However I don't think this affects just the Behringer range. Maybe my next set of speakers will have flat/square sides.
Anyhow I definitely recommend them to any prospective buyers. Lot's of bang for your buck!

My only experience with that particular speaker was as a monitor in a club I DJ'ed in & was very impressed.

A lot of the bands in my area use them as stage monitors usualy 10"s and the sound good but they are not pushing a lot of bottom end through them. I have not heard the 12"s or 15"s

You probably have noticeable difference in volume due to having them slightly higher with been on stands, the dual 15's aren't hi enough sometimes i.e. when your in a smallish room and you have a lot of people.
Setup you have now is more professional, use the dual's for when your on stage or when accompanied by subs.

I have used Behringer for about4 years now and I am really happy. I did a show at Christmas for 300 people, one of them was sound engineer for a tv station. He went on and on about the balance and quality of my system. Down side is they are heavy, I don't know what I will do when my son moves out. On the other hand I could pay a roadie and it would be cheaper then my son living at home.....LoL

You always get good sound from heavy equipment, it's getting good sound from light small equipment thats the hard thing to do.

I've have mine for about 8 months now. I have enjoyed them using them as a DJ at parties 200+ people. In fact thinking of getting the new (18's) Subs which just came out.
ps. I had been running mine at 12 o'clock also. However since I've added the DBx DriveRack PX and have done a "gain structure" I run them a about 3/4 or more (no clipping) and they sound even better than before. It appears these new amps (P/S) sound better when the gain is up, even at lower volume levels.

I just upgraded my 12's from 150w rms to 250, just swapped the drivers and hooked up my new Kam kxr 2000
woh what a difference man !
means I won't have to lug my 15 inch mdf's around anymore..yay says my spine lol
having all that extra headroom and no clipping really makes a difference !
I can carry both my 12's one on each hand now, less trips to the car and more power, grooveh
have you guys checked out the new range of kam amps..? omg they're like 1U, weigh about 6 kilos, and put out like 900w rms on 8 ohms !! cheez
proper pricey though :( would love to get my hands on one at some stage cos my kxr is an elephant lol

You can't go wrong with the new series of powered speakers or amps from most ranges. Just ensure they are utilising Class D. Far more efficient with less heat loss meaning only a small heat sink required or none at all. Major advantage of course is the weight reduction.
Theres a huge difference in weight from the older generation of powered speakers.

I know this is an older message but I just bough 4 of the B215 D's. One set is aqueduct for a small to medium wedding. If I need more I bring the other set for four of them. I did a out door gig last week with them fireworks going off everywhere and it was crazy loud. I figure I have the extra if I need it or I have 2 small shows at once. At the club I put them in four corners and people dance in the middle of them all and its more than enough power. I too was going to buy the Mackie thumps but got a good deal with the Behringers. A good friend of mine has the older version of the Mackie series with a 12" I always loved the sound that came out of them. For giggles I hooked up a mackie 18" powered sub for extra bass and was blown away with the intensity of the entire system. I went for a quick bathroom brake all the end of the way of the event center and the ceiling tiles were vibrating..lol. Back in the old days I used to run a Peavey Project one sound system. 4' x 2 foot subs, stacked with a 4'x2' mid horn and a 2x2 tweeter at the top of each stack. That was power but friggin heavy. The subs were 250lbs each, mids 185lbs and tweeters 75lbs. So compared to the sound I used to put out I'm very happy with the Behringers. They are also great for karaoke as well.

I have a pair of the B115D speakers that I run with a Behringer 15" Powered Sub. I have done may gigs with these and they work great and have never let me down. They sound great. I have a friend that does sound for a band and he says these sound every bit as good as any speaker he uses. I have used them for Wedding and Bars ranging from 50 people to 200 People and they are great. I used 4 of them with 2 Subs and did an out door street party and everyone said they sounded amazing.

This thread is Outdated. This person probably bought the behringer speakers a long time ago.
