I am now calculating the bpm's of all tracks in my library, is there a special file somewhere in the software which I can save so if in the future my machine should break then I won't have to scan all files again?

All you have to do is, open VDJ then highlight your track or "control A" to highlight them all, next right click and a window with options will appear. Click on "file info" I believe. Another window should open up it from here you can write back all that info, bpm, key, comments etc. etc. to the ID3 tag of the song.
If you have a lot of tracks this could be a slow and painful process but well worth it!!! I have purposed that this is automatically done when you are analyzing tracks which would take the sting out of having to do it manually. If you agree look here, http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/139562/Wishes_and_new_features/Add__KEY__and__BPM___________.html , and show your support maybe together we can get this changed!!
Hope that helps
