Have it, use it for video & karaoke.... best laptop I've ever bought!

@ECoast how is the size to pack around? Did you have to tweak it much to get it running smooth?

Size to pack? You mean bag & transport? Its kind of big, but a trade off if ya want a 17" screen. Far as tweaking, I plug & play right out of the box.... not much of a tech head, but the thing is stronger than my MBP in my opinion.
Get it, you wont regret it!
You powering a controller with it and using HDMI or VGA out for video?

Yes have several controllers, as far as feeding the video still up in the air on the whole HDMI thing currently using S-Video.

Yes size to transport. Since there not a whole lot of bags out there that I've seen...

Have the same specs but my video card is a 3 GB its the bomb

I've got a Targus bag that has several pockets and compartments that it fits nice in. If you get a bag for it, make sure its the biggest one they have and don't assume cause the tag says "For 17 inch" that it will fit. I've got a brand new Wenger Swiss 17" case from the purchase that cant be used cause the Asus is too fat.

Good call ECoast on the bag yes I see this thing is fat. Any other things I should know about this computer...

Cant really offer anything else other than buy it... you will love this thing right out of the box!
