Quick video of me messing about (can you tell I'm bored!), with the cut and filter effects - thanks to DJDad for helping out with the mapping.

Blu...tell me about it...at home I have the decks, etc sat on an old keyboard stand...wobbly-bob!...
As for scratching...nah...I wish I could but my talent bag in that direction is totally empty...lol
and before anyone says anything...we are currently renovating the house so the decor, at the mo, leaves something to be desired.... :) :)

lol an old keyboard stand. i at least turned an old bed into a desk lol.
your scratching skills aint all that bad actually. one thing is you were scratching in time with the backing track. and to be fair there was some moments i thought you were going to take off...lol.
my scratching skills are pretty much none existant. i just cant get the hang of using ths fader. i endup doing the same thing with my timecode as i do with the fader and it just doesnt work.
waaaay better than the vid in that other vid i linked your vid into.
no offence to tracker but hey, he's no longer the "best" as he calls it. lol.

Blu...the way I do this is:
I've mapped the "Reverse" toggle to switch on the "Cut" effect with the Wet/Dry slider controlling the timing (it is beatsynced automatically) and also turn the jogwheel into a control for the Filter. So when I "scratch" all it's doing is altering the filter value whilst the "Cut" effect handles the cutting in and out...you can see that I alter the Cut timing to get different effects.
On top of that I'm using the following effects from the DDM4000:
Echo
Beatmasher
Flanger
Phaser
So to say that it's scratchingis a little too generous...I think of it more along the lines of James Zabiela stylee (well my poor attempt at his style anyway...).

Is the "cut" effect a plug in? I haven't seen it listed in the effects bank.

Mike, it's a plug in that is available for Pro users to download from the download section.

would it be possible to map a herc controler in the same fashion sai?
i would like to test the idea and have a play around.

@ Blu...here you go.
This was done using a Hercules DJ Steel and Virtual DJ Pro 7 (you will need a Pro licence to be able to download the CUT effect).
BUTTON1: effect "cut" active & toggle "scratcheffect" & filter 50%
So when pressed, it activates/deactivates the "Cut" effect and activates/deactivates a variable ("scratcheffect") and sets the filter to 50% (allows the filter to be reset when you switch the effect off).I just chose BUTTON1, but you could assign it to any button (I would suggest using one of the effect buttons though ;) ). You might also want to assign "loop" to another button, so that you can grab a loop to "scratch" quickly, rather than loop_in - loop_out.
JOG: var "scratcheffect" ? param_multiply 2 & filter : jogwheel
If the variable "scratcheffect" is activated, then use the jogwheel as a filter control. As for the param_multiply, you can choose whatever number you want...the lower the number the more you have to turn the jog wheel to go from one end of the filter to the other - I happen to like 3x, but I've changed it to 2x for this (so that's 2 x normal movement), as the jogwheels are a lot smaller.
NOTE: when the "scratcheffect" is active, the jog wheel will only control the filter control - it won't allow the jogwheel to jog or scratch, until the effect is deactivated (press the button again - LED will go out).
I'll do a quick video in the morning of it working, it might make sense then...lol

thanks sai, ive mapped tthose strings into the correct places but my jog for some reason when the cut effect is active doesnt respond at all.
oh and i got the cut effect from the DL section seems i have privelage enough to do so.
the string
var "scratcheffect" ? param_multiply 2 & filter : jogwheel
seems to just turn off the jog all together when the cut is activated.

@ Blu...mmm...might be a difference between the MP3 E2 and the Steel...maybe someone can shed some light.
@ Dj Ace...they're Numark NDX800's in MIDI mode via USB (they also play CD's/MP3 CD's and Flash drives).
@ Huey...in MIDI mode bud.

i got it sorted sai, not sure why but it just suddenly started working. ive been playing around and the only thing i cant quite grasp is scribbling on it. you pulled off a mint scribble scratch with these setting but it seems like no matter how fast i scribble the jog it just continues to make the same cuts. any tips on where im going wrong?
