Foe the musical broadcast here is a text from Live 365--www.live365.com
Can I broadcast music from CDs that I have purchased?
Generally, yes. The recordings that you play in your programs must originate from an authorized source (that is, created originally by the band or record label that owns the copyright), and are not unlawful copies that have been downloaded illegally or obtained from an unauthorized third party.
You may include these authorized recordings in your program without further permission or payment as long as you follow the rules set forth by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) of 1998. Live365 has taken care of all U.S. musical composition performance royalties through its licenses with ASCAP, BMI and SESAC, and has taken care of U.S. sound recording performance royalties by complying with the terms of recently enacted.
You should be aware, however, that some songs may be written by writers who are not affiliated with ASCAP, BMI or SESAC (including, for example, many songs written by local and international songwriters for albums that are not released by a "major" label in the United States). Such songs are not covered by Live365’s blanket licenses, and you would need direct permission from the writers (or copyright owners) of such songs before including them in your programs. Generally, the liner notes of your CDs should indicate in small print whether the songwriters are affiliated with ASCAP, BMI or SESAC.
Sorry for the long entry but it speaks for itself I think!
Good Luck and keep up posted on your radio! :)
