Tópico: timecode vs midi

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

hello everyone.. today as i was in a dj store i came up with this question..
whitch on is better for scratching.. a timecode vinyl or a good quality midi controller with very good jogs..
for example if i have a cdj 2000 witch is a high quality cd player would it better to use timecode cds or use it as midi controller (just concetrate in jog not at others functions you can have with midi)

both timecode and midi can scratch very well.

some scratches, like the hydroplane, don't work on jogs wheels, at least not in the traditional sense. someone somewhere may devise a method for them on jogs, it's likely.

the real divide between jogs and timecode is in beat-juggling, because you lose visual reference with a non-spinning jog wheel.

With the aforementioned CDJ family, there's actually a visual reference :P
What I found different with my CDJ-900, from a n00b scratcher side, is that there is no concept of "slipmat friction", so the behavior isn't what expected as in physical real life.
As I can read in many reviews, you'd better get motorized CD players such as the Numark CDX/HDX or rather the Denon DN-S3700 (less old) in order to scratch like with vinyls. The best "digital" equipment for scratch DJs are the Numark NS7/V7.

The better one for scratching is Turntable. If you want a Midi deck that can scratch like a turntable is the Denon 3700's. With the denon, you never have to worry about buying new needles and its more compact than a turntable. I have two technics 1200's & two 3700's. I have many scratching djs come over my house to mix and they like the way the denons feel.
