Tópico: NS7 Still Laggy

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Ok, I keep coming back to VDJ so that I can actually use what I paid ~$300 for last spring, yet I can never get it running quite right. Last fall I played around with this and that and seemed to have gotten it working alright, but it was laggy. This is the same case now (not that I expected anything to change).

I've searched and researched through the forums here, but there doesn't seem to be anything new or recent regarding the NS7. What there is available for the NS7 info shows screenshots that are slightly different than mine.

For a refresher, here's what I'm running:

MBP 10.6.4, 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB
Bootcamp with XP (*1)
ASIO Driver (*2)
Latest and greatest Itch installed (For drivers, firmware, etc) (*3)
Latest and greatest VDJ installed

I started from scratch, all settings default.

The audio is "ok". Could be better, but I'm also an audiophile and notice these things.

The deal breaker is the lag of platter response time. I can literally scratch and stop, and hear a ~1/2 second delay. Of course, this is unacceptable.

CPU isn't exactly pegged, but it does vary between 40-70%.

For testing purposes, I'm playing decent sized MP4's with video output activated and outputting to the attached display via Mini-DV port <> HDMI.

NOTES (from above):
*1: I'm running XP (via bootcamp) under the philosophy that it runs a little more efficiently. I have the ability to run Windows 7, however I'm not sure if this will make a difference. stay away from osx

*2: I've moved the ASIO latency slider (which says Numark at the top) all the way to the right and slowly bring it down to the left. As soon as I drop below 256, the track won't start right away, and when it does, it's in little bits and pieces, play, stop, play, stop, etc.

I've tried the audio set-up with both "single output" and "4 channel output"

*3: Itch runs as snappy and responsive as ever. I just can't fathom where the delay is elsewhere.

Is there anyone that can shed some light on this? It would be wonderful to see a dedicated NS7 thread (or sticky, even) regarding user settings, in a uniform layout.

Your PC is close to the bare minimum Numark spec of 2.4ghz. I run a 3.2 ghz i5, Win 7 Pro and 8 gigs ram and can't get lower than 256 latency. You really need a faster processor, ram does not make as big of a difference. Hope this helps.

How do you figure? http://www.numark.com/ns7: 32-bit: Intel processor, 1.8GHz Core Duo; 1GB RAM

Even it was "close to bare min", it's not bare min, yet Itch performs flawlessly.

Anyone? Anyone?
