I recently purchased a Denon MC6000 and use it with both Traktor and Virtual DJ. I have used it successfully with both. Recently at a gig when I switched from Traktor to Virtual DJ (shutting down Traktor then starting VDJ) the audio coming out of the MC6000 was badly distorted. It sounded overdriven, distorted to the point that the music was unrecognizable. All the levels were low, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Checked all my level controls, looked through the settings, I had no clue what was wrong. Tried restarting VDJ and had the same problem. Plugged in my backup sound card (Gigaport AG) and chose it as the output for VDJ. Audio sounded fine out of the Gigaport. Switched back to the MC6000 and had the same distorted audio. CPU usage was low, computer was using minimal resources.
Anyone else discovered this problem?

Firstly, are you using this controller with Windows, or Mac?
Within windows (using the DENON ASIO driver) it is very touchy on what sample rate you choose.
If you are using Windows, and can open up the ASIO driver utility that comes with the install disc, try changing the sample rate to 357 (use the left/ right arrow keys to fine tune). This works for me so I hope it will help with your sound.
Let me know how you get on.

Here's the first video I made showing that the problem goes away when I use the Gigaport instead of the MC6000.

Further investigation revealed that altering the latency in the ASIO drivers makes the problem come and go. A lower latency value changes the harmonic frequencies of the distortion but I can also get clear audio at various points all across the latency setting spectrum. I don't know if this is a VDJ bug or a Denon ASIO bug. Here's a sample video where I try various latencies:

Hi
I get this problem all the time if i use my laptop motherboard audio out as my main out, and 1 of my secondary soundcard outputs (currently an Indigo Echo DJ) as my headphone out.
It only happens on the headphone output (thank god) and tends to phase in and out so sometimes the audio is clear, other times its distorted but if i keep it playing in my headphones after a while it goes back to normal.
I only have this problem if i use separate cards for main output & headphones. If i use my Echo Indigo DJ for both main & headphone output it is fine, but if i use it for headphone only i get the problem with distortion.
I have experienced this problem with both my Echo Indigo DJ plus a Soundblaster Audigy card on my current laptop, and i had the exact same problem on my old laptop with both an Echo Indigo DJx (different card to the first one) and also using the same Soundblaster Audigy card so i don't see how it is a hardware problem.
Again, if i used any of the soundcards for both main & headphone output on either laptop, i never had a problem, only when using 2 different cards.

Thank you VDJ for the prompt answer to my question.
Denon says it's a bug in VDJ and the next version should fix it.
