Sounds good, the KRK speakers would be great for a bedroom or recording studio but for parties you need PA speakers, those are studio monitors- which means they're good at sounding great, but they won't be loud enough unless you just want background music in a small living room. If you want people to dance then you need PA speakers that will give you more volume.

As for lights, just get something cheap that projects some kind of moving shapes in all directions. Here's a good suggestion. The "Tri LED" stuff from american dj is pretty good.

And make sure you buy a tripod stand to put it/them on so you can get them to ceiling height and have the lights shining down on people.

Hope that helps.

Thx great advice

I'll probably get two of these to start off with. if you think that would be enough for my whole light set-up (to begin with)

Which PA speakers should I get then?

No probs, cheers.

Speaker-wise, it depends what your budget is. If you're really tight you could even just buy one decent speaker to start with, then expand to a pair, basically you can spend anywhere from £200 to £1.200 for a single speaker.

Depends must be under £500 for pair because I don't have that kind of money and preferable with built in amp

Wow, I'm on a roll tonight...

Try and squeeze that extra hundred quid out of your budget if you can, or keep your eye on ebay for more deals.

Mackie SRM 450 is kind of an industry standard but they're about 800-900 per pair brand new. Always go and listen to speakers to check they work properly if you're buying second hand!

If you want new then you'd have to make do with the more budget models. Not heard either of these, but I have heard from other people in the forum that they're very good for the price.

You'll get more bass out of the 15 inch ones than the cheaper 12 inch ones.
