finally going to make the upgrade from a PC.
Obviously the computing power is better on the i7, but what i want to know.. is there any significant drawbacks to the i5 that would definitely warrant me purchasing that extra power?
Thanks in advance,
AO

If you can afford to go all the way to i7, do it. I didn't have the money, so I went with the Macbookpro 13"
It's working great. Wonderful, best thing I've ever upgraded to after my QSC speakers upgrade.
If you're just going to run music and vdj7, then i5 should do just fine.
Will you be buying Studio Logic Pro? Awesome program, it hungers for the i7 though.
Remember, you still can't mix videos with vdj7 on Mac, also there are other limitations like Karaoke. Just fyi.

I probably won't purchase Logic Studio anytime soon. Right now my laptop will be replacing the PC (I am having delay issues scratching on a Toshiba/NS7 setup) and I'm strictly keeping the Mac for gigs. No internet even. I'm hoping the Mac takes care of the latency issues.
I didn't know Mac cant mix videos. I hope it gets this functionality soon. That's a big drawback for me.

you should read more on the NS7 problems, since I've been reading a lot of unhappy people who have NS7 and VDJ and Mac.

really ?? wow.
are you running dual core i5 or quad core i5.. i just went to best buy for a hands on comparison and the tech sheets are the not the same.. I know quad whips dual in its sleep. So now i may have to splurge a little to get that quadcore.
the only prob im having is in cold weather.. the EQ, xfader and volumes drop/jump. It does it in Serato Itch too. thinking it's the PC processor has finally met its match. The only way to correct is to frantically jump volumes too until i regain solid sound. sucks 'cause sometimes more than one acts up at the same time. enough of my rant (unless you've read about/seen something similar)...
BTW:
PC Specs:
Pentium Dual Core t4200 @2 Ghz, 32-bit
3 GB Ram Vista
Maybe its Windows Vista.. ?
Either way, Mac is coming home. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the upgrade weeds out my issue.

I have dual core.
MacBookPro 13"
But, I use a Hercules Rmx, as far as sound and latency, it is a beast. Not even at its best the PC ever sounded this good. No glitchy sound or that hiccup crap or gain issues yet (fingers crossed)
OH and btw, the Mac doesn't bring a blu-ray player, just fyi

Scott,
What are the specs on your Macbook? Any thoughts on processing power i5 vs i7... right now im leaning towards a 15.4" i7 quad.. not sure if it's overkill.

I guess I'm mistaken, there was something that you can't do in the Mac, and if it isn't mixing videos is something else, what is it? I forget now.
I'll think of it.
Maybe there is not as many transitions? I don't know.

You're welcome Emaofia,
and thanx, if you're talking about my show over at boun fm, I have to book some sets here vdj, but haven't had the chance. :(
Also my neighbors complained about the noise :( so now I can't hardly mix. I can't beatmatch if I can't hear the bass

Hello friends I work with virtual dj for years .. but this year I ran into a problem. to move to version 7.03 on my macbookpro DualCore 2.5 4 gb ram 512 video. it drops the audio and the image sticks a lot.!
then return to version 5.2.1 and these problems are eliminated. I have my doubts if my macbookpro perhaps no longer supports the requirements for version 7 ... which mac would you recommend that I have to sell.! (I was watching the i7 quad) but I have not run well assured that the videos with virtual 7 ...
