i would absolutely love to debate the other parts of the moderators statement in the locked thread...but since it must be "about djing in general"...


current events, whether they are local to your area or world wide, affect the customers moods and attitudes and we as dj's must deal with that - our jobs are to entertain and take their minds off of things and help them un-wind by playing music and getting them dancing. but this is not the forum to discuss things like that? your customers are as much apart of djing as the music is, because without them you might as well sit at home and play to yourself.

sharing information and knowledge and experience about how to do these things to accomplish our goal of keeping the customers entertained and ourselves employed, when they are so psychologically affected by political unrest, financial troubles, natural disasters, or even their own personal disasters, is vital to any dj who wants to entertain and not just walk into a club or venue, play music and walk out not caring if they are entertained or even if they walk out in the middle of the night because they just cant stand to be there anymore.

but since none of this applies to" djing in general" feel free to lock this one too.

I thought it's always been the rule here that we don't talk politics or religion. The post in question covered both subjects so I can see why it was locked. These subjects are emotive and comments can easily get out of hand.

The VirtualDJ website really has no place for politics or religion. Its too taboo, this is NOT an American community this is a world community. There is an Experienced Users forum that can be used for non related DJ threads, although Im sure eventually a thread like Renee's would have been closed anyways.
 
there was no mention of politics or religion in this thread. A criminal to the world was disposed of... I read nothing of Islam or Christianity in that thread.

Maybe the moderator should have locked it to start with instead of scolding the children and pressing his point of view,
"Violence begets violence . Stop wars for oil .
We are djs , we don't need to speak about this things here . Can we just play music ?"

We are human beings first, that is the main thing we all have in common on these forums and Bin Laden was a menace to the whole world.

I do understand that this is a hot-button subject but it had not gotten anywhere near out of hand. The most controversial thing I read was entered by the moderator.

You don't have to be Pro America to want an evil person removed from the world.

when they used to allow it , it ALWAYS got out of control ......

The MODERATOR totally mis-read a comment and rather than acknowledge the fact HE inflames the topic and the closes it. (I've seen this show before) Also, it was NOT a political post, people ALL OVER THE WORLD are celebrating the capture and execution of a mass murderer.

Sorry MY BAD thinking I could share this monumental occasion with a few friends when I heard it breaking last night.
So before I get really annoyed and leave this forum for another six months lets return to the regular programing!

Does anyone know where I can buy some dirt cheap music videos?

A DJ is the least of what I am, I am a human being, I am a husband, I am a father, I am a citizen of this world.
A criminal to the world was brought to justice, that is what was being celebrated, no mention of religion or politics until you threw your 2 cents in about "no wars for oil".

As a moderator you should take responsibility for the statements you made, and apologize for being the first one to take the topic where it should not have gone.

The avatar that is in "such bad taste" is on 10-20 leading newsapaper publications around the world.
Perhaps you could lock them?

(And YES if I had a T-shirt like that I'd wear it starting Wednesday night, I don't just work weekends)

I said nothing of what the US does, I'm no idiot. I don't think the US govt is completely innocent of crimes, but that was not the topic.

its that simple... if you like the man then mourn his passing... I'm celebrating.

If you have a problem with US foreign policy then call the state department or stay on the Spanish forum.

Homeboy, it's the moderator that needs a talking to. He is not representing Atomix or VDJ very well with his comments or his attitude.

There are rules and codes of conduct to follow in life and whether we like or disagree with them they are there for a purpose.

Here on the forums if someone transgresses those guidelines we have the moderators and above to make a decision on whether or not a thread should be closed, raised, or moved to a more appropriate forum.

In either instance whether we agree or disagree with the action we have to abide and respect that decision.

tayla, I agree 100%. I don't have a problem with the topic being locked (it's a dangerous topic) or that someone disagrees. Its the fact that the moderator popped off his opinion on the topic and then locked it when the fire got too hot after he poured gas on it.

Just some recognition that the moderator bears some blame and that he should have handled it differently would be appreciated.
