Tópico: Controller for layman user - Need recommendations

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Background: I'm currently deployed in Kabul, Afghanistan and have been a house DJ for a few events here and there. I recommended to the employee entertainment committee that they get a mixer as my deployment is due to end in a couple of months. I steered them towards the Numark IDJ 3 given it has an iPod dock, but I haven't been able to run it on my system and it seems to have walked away (nothing is locked). I recently purchased the Hercules MK4 as a traveling mixer given its compact size and have been generally happy with it save a minor issue such as the lag whe releasing the jog wheel.

They've again asked me for recommendations and I again am looking to steer them towards an iPod dock unit given everyone shows up with their iPods and plays DJ by swapping the cable from iPod to iPod. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated. The committee has plenty of money given they run the one bar and liquor store here at the Embassy, so money is no object.

If you're ever passing through Kabul, stop on by the Duck and Cover...or the UK Embassy soon enough as I am looking to secure gigs there also.

Please bear in mind that the iDJ3 is not a stand-alone unit. It is a MIDI controller/sound card with iPOD dock and cannot function on its own without being connected to a computer running suitable software such as VirtualDJ.

If you need a unit that can also function on its own without a computer (And/or continue working as a backup should something happen to the computer), then something like the Numark MixDeck would be a better option. This also allows audio CD's and USB media to be played.

You know, I was just saying to myself, "I need to drop by the Duck and Cover the next time I'm in the region". Can you put my name on the VIP list?

The Hercules DJ-RMX is pretty awesome! Its small enough to be portable and terrific sound. It also has analog inputs, one on each channel that you can use pretty much any analog source with a cable (ie, Ipod, ipad, phone, cd player, etc).
