is there any way to get the numark mixtrack to work with older versions of virtual dj like virtual dj 5?

You could map everything yourself, but not sure if this new controller would be compatible with the new mapper and VDJ 5 ?...

The native mappers are hard-coded in VirtualDJ v5 and cannot be changed or added to.
The only way you could use it is by mapping it manually yourself via General MIDI, but this does not support working LED's, so you will only have half the capability of the device.
For best results and full capability of the controller including working button LED's you will need to use it with the latest version of the software.
VirtualDJ v5 is a very old and out of date version of the software. There have been many changes and improvements to the software since then (See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html ) - We are now on v7.0.4
Please register your serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then upgrade to the latest version:

Or purchase the latest version from the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html
