Hello all,
I am looking to buy speakers so I can start DJaying private events. Any suggestions. I have the Numark Mixtrack and what pisses me off is that it doesn't have a jack for the headphones so I have to use the jack on my laptop.

Well The AMERICAN AUDIO DLS-15P powered 15" speakers just about creep in under $600 per pair.
Something along those lines should get you started.

I would wait and save some more cash. IMO you do not want to start with less than desirable equipment and that's really what you are going to get with a 600.00 budget. There are some Behringer active speakers in that price range as well as Harbinger, but if it were me I would save a few hundred more bucks and get something nice.
Your sound is your image and the better the sound the better the image. A beginner DJ can sound better with good equipment than an experienced Dj with crappy sound system. That's just my opinion but there it is.

Agreed - if you want more bang for your buck, spend your $600 on a pair of used speakers from <insert name of auction site here> and you could end up with sound that would have cost you double to buy new.
