I'm not sure if i understand you, how you want to use this equipment. :-)

You like to use the CDJs as a Midi Player and you like to use the CDJs Soundcards?

Maybe there is another solution, but you can try it this way.
> Connect both CDJs via USB to your computer
> Connect both CDJ Player 1 soundcard output to the C3 input 1
> Connect both CDJ Player 2 soundcard output to the C3 input 2
> Set the CDJs to Midi Mode
> Open VDJ and go to VDJ Config - Soundcard
Select:
Input - None
Output - External Mixer
Soundcard - 2 Soundcards (2 card Icon) and beside the CDJs.
Then give it a try
> Connect both CDJs via USB to your computer
> Connect both CDJ Player 1 soundcard output to the C3 input 1
> Connect both CDJ Player 2 soundcard output to the C3 input 2

That should do the trick, but for example in my case, I had to do a bit more to make it work.
I have Macbook 13" and pair of cdj-400 at my local club. I saw them as soundcard-options in VDJ, but had the same
problem with you. Thing is, you may have to create "an Aggregate device". I try to remember all the points of it, but if I miss something, tell me and I'll check it on next time, when Im capable :)
First, make sure your cdj-400:s are using different MIDI-channel (Utility mode->Midi-channel-> "1" on other and "2" on other, for example).
Then connect your players with usb and PC-mode to your mac.
1.go Utilities->Audio midi setup.
2.You get Audio Devices -list in front. Including CDJ:s. Highlight PIONEER CDJ-400.
3.Left bottom of that screen you see "+"-mark, click that, and that should add the aggregate device to list
4.Click the aggregate device, that you just created, and on the right you have some checkboxes to mark. You should see build-in input, build-in output & two PIONEER CDJ-400:s. Make sure both "use"-checkboxes of cdj-400s are marked.
5.Next, at bottom right is button called "Configure Speakers", Click it. It should give you options to select multichannel->Quadrophonic. You should be able to select 1-4 channels for audio. top left = 1, top right =2 and left bottom=3 & right bottom=4. Apply.
Now, if I've succeeded to remember all correct, you should have working soundcard settings for pioneers.
On VDJ soundcard-settings use external mixer and two soundcards (1.Pioneer-400 and 2. Aggregate device).
Hope it works :)
