i hate to do the stereotype thing...but...
deep in the country in missouri = redneck flags and good ol' boys whose vocabulary is "politically incorrect" to say the least. there WILL be pickup trucks with gun racks and if its like any of the other redneck weddings i've had to go to, there will be more alcohol than water.
that being said, get with this guy before the wedding as much as possible and make damn sure you have the music he's asking for - when he says "classic rock" he means stuff he wants to hear and stuff that wont offend his wedding party. have him be specific and make a detailed list of songs for the classic rock and country - not what we think is appropriate but what the customer thinks is appropriate - every region has different tastes in music and everyone thinks what is hot on the charts is gonna work everywhere - great big WRONG on that one - taylor swift, rascal flatts, and some of the other newer acts might work fine in a club 50 miles from here or in another state, but here they empty my dancefloor 90% of the time.
the bottom line is - your customer is paying and he wants what he wants - but be prepared to play almost anything at a wedding, his cousin from the big city might be visiting...

Having played many gigs like this before, it really can turn out to be a good time.
Here are some common party favorites for the VERY pro-country crowd:
Fiddle in the Band - Alabama
Song of the South - Alabama
Mountain Music - Alabama
Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks (not really that fast, nor slow, but good to come out of a slow set with)
Long Neck Bottle - Garth Brooks
The Dance - Garth Brooks (slow song)
In Collor - Jamey Johnson (slow song)
Save Horse, Ride a Cowboy - Big & Rich
Rollin' - Big & Rich
Honkytonk Badonkadonk - Trace Adkins (?? I think he sings this, I'm typing this off of memory)
Hicktown - Jason Aldean
Big Green Tractor - Jason Aldean (slow song)
Johnny Cash - Jason Aldean
Redneck Woman - Gretchen Wilson
Kerosene - Miranda Lambert
Here For the Party - (one of the two women above, slipping my mind at the moment)
My Last Name - Carrie Underwood
Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood
Boot Scootin' Boogie - Brooks & Dunn
Play Something Country - Brooks & Dunn
Hillbilly Deluxe - Brooks & Dunn
All My Friends Say - Luke Bryan
Country Man - Luke Bryan
Rain is a Good Thing - Luke Bryan
Perfect Country and Western Song - David Allen Coe (if its a REALLY hardcore country crowd, some of David Allen Coe's "other" songs would be good to have as well. lol"
Thank God I'm A Country Boy - John Denver
A Country Boy Can Survive - Hank Williams Jr.
Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels
Good Ol' Boys (Dukes of Hazzard Theme) - Waylon Jennings
Fishing in the Dark - (many artists have done this song, Garth did a version, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was the original (I think))
Lousianna Saturday Night - (again many artists, Mel McDaniel, Alabama)
Cotton Eyed Joe - The Rednexx (even tho he said "No Rap", EVERY country only party I've ever done, this has KILLED!)
Artists to consider getting ahold of:
Alabama (hardcore country chicks swoon for old Alabama love songs!)
Brad Paisley
Lady Antebellum (for slow songs)
Trace Adkins
Tracy Byrd
George Strait
Toby Keith
any of the artists listed above
Classic Rock:
all the Lynard Skynard you can have
ACDC
even the 80's hair metal scence goes very well: Bon Jovi, Poison, Warrant
anything from the "Daved & Confused" soundtrack
this, along with everything before it, should be a pretty decent start to a good country party

I would probably go with "Back That Ass Up" by Juvenile, right after the cake cutting, to get the party started. I think he's from Missouri.

I did a wedding last week ( 4.5 hr set, first time I took my newly purchaed VDJ on the road - came up trumps! ). It sounds corny but make sure you pack the obvious smashers. There were many requests for Grease, Abba and tracks from dirty dancing etc.
Of course, people will always love motown and the big MJ numbers (Billie Jean, dont stop till you get enbough etc... Madonna 'holiday' worked wonders too!
Get some stuff for the kids too...as much as it pained me to actually buy Justin Bieber's 'baby', it worked well. haha. Good luck !

I know its an Old post but heres my 2 cent. Gigs that want music that i dont play, i wont take the gig. Ill just pass it it because i dont want to look bad for not playing the right songs. You can have a play list of songs your not familiar with but, It wont be big enough for 5 hours of music. When you are familiar with the music you always play, you will know when to play it and what not to play.
