How can you tell that a dj pool is legit now? Yourremix was a fantastic site for me and now I am gun-shy about signing up with any other dj pool.

To the end user you can never really tell, nobody brags about having no label support and some sites dress themselves up as being "backed" by the record labels but in fact are not.

There's no attack on the customers of these sites, they're just looking to stop the sources but they'll be back in a matter of days.

I've said before, if you take out one site you create another dozen sites in doing so. You can't control the internet, and you can't take thousands of people to court.

Lastly, the reason why such remix sites and pools came into existence was to give the DJ/VJ the tools s/he needed in order to do their job, which by nature promotes the record industry. They may be making a profit but remember the value is derived from the remix/editing work, as if the goal was just to acquire the content, one could do so easily for much less USD. So this was a market niche with a limited customer base.

The greatest point of all to drive home to Universal and anyone, is that these sites made possible what the labels could not and did not. They created this market by not tending to its needs and keeping up with the times. Remixes, mashups, tempo transitions, tools, hype intros etc are by nature never going to be 100% legit, because the content is often derived by two or even three labels. Which even if all three labels did support the processing time would be ridiculous, and why would they? They see no use or value in these mixes, only DJ's/VJ's understand that use.

So to those that harp on about only wanting legit sources, there are legit sources but such sources are limited and will not offer the kind of satisfaction that DJ's/VJ's have enjoyed. You'll get your singles, extended/skit free edits, but don't go expecting anything super creative or alternative.

What I want to know is where are the DJ's from yourremix going to go? I will follow. Wherever. I've looked at offerings from other sites and the two listed in this post xmix and beatdrop and they are useless to me compared to yourremix. Xmix wants to sell you a subscription a-la columbia house and expect that you'll like whatever they put out. Beatdrop has so much diversity that finding an actual popular playable track is a needle in a haystack. Where else am I going to find a Fishin in the Dark remix or an Enter Sandman dance track? That site was integral to the genres and popularity of what's in my demographic. We don't have "club scenes" here.
It's all very sad.
For me this is like taking your vinyl shops away from you hardcore vinyl guys. Remember that feeling of finding that record you'd been looking for fer so long? Yah, that's what I get every day when I head out to that site and browse (by the way not just a few here or there like other sites, but EVERY track) the library and come across that one gem for the day.
If this site wont be back or can't come back then please if anyone knows where these DJs will go or an equivalent site to frequent (I certainly can't find one) then keep in touch and let me know. This particular site mated with VDJ has made me the wannabe DJ I am and without that creativity and help from other creative minds I'm kinda lost.

Most of those djs have Twitter accounts so if you remember their names look em up and ask em........

What bothers me is there is no certification that legit companies declare when they take your money, none of them.
Even then, you don't actually "own" the tracks and they can recall what you have legally if they wanted to.

DVDJ's really got the short end of the stick this time around.

Attack your fan base great job Universal.

I want to thank you Huey personally for that gentle duhhhh and with a little bit of research I found some other places that hosted some of my favorite DJs. ie:
DJ Absinth
DJ Redz
Beat Ninjaz
etc.
Still unable to locate Area 51 which had a LOT of good tracks I purchased, but maybe they'll pop up or are under a different name, I dunno.
Regardless, with a little google searching I came across a few other good sites.
I'll be honest and say I don't know the rules about posting links here so mods if you find my post inappropriate then you may delete it, but as a resource for some of you in the same boat as me I found 3 similar sites to remix that I'd recco.

djshop.de which isn't US, but still had some of the tracks I was looking for
9 inch remix which appears to be a decent resource
and my favorite so far...secret remixes which has good prices on several of the DJs and genres I was looking for.
Hopefully THEY stay up for awhile. I wont be buying any memberships, but I'll still be gettin my tracks and supporting those guys that are pushing out the clips I like to hear!

Let's hope this whole thing blows over, eh?

Thanks!! any good sites to go to are much appreciated.

I checked out this site. They have a DJ pool subscription service as well. They've got some good stuff there but I think its really pricey. $30+ for 50 downloads a month? Thats more than twice of what I used to pay at Yourremix. I guess I'll be switching over to DJCity.

Well it's not looking good for us that got music from yourremix.com checked again today and still nothing that's BS.

Ahh forget em, Crooklyn Clan is much better, I little on the pricey side but better..........

Time to move along....

Crooklyn is a pay per download site, it's not a pool so you can just buy what you need.

There's a limited time sale on right now, so a good time to check it out.

Don't expect them to be up and running anytime soon. Have a look at the link cstoll posted with the 45 page list of targets that Universal Music Group is going after. If yourremix.com ever does emerge from this, it will be after a long legal battle.

As it transpires this list only refers to advertising, it's nothing about who's going after who. Many of these sites shut their own doors on discovery of this list without establishing more in the way of facts.

looks like anonymous hit universal and viacom today poetic justice anyone?
