hi guys, ive got a major headache at the moment, ive spent the last 3 hours trying to split a video file into smaller parts. as it happens each part is a different lengh.
i converted a vidoe file to avi and now i need to split it, ive tried corel x3 and theres no easy option to split the file into parts. ive also tried movie maker and it has a habbit of placing the split 0.5 - 2 seconds earlier or later than you select.
i also tried EZvideo splitter which is neither use nor ornament as it only allows splitting into parts of equal size or length.
is there some sort of vidoe editing softwre that i can use to just drop markers into the timeline and then export the video as parts seperated at the marker points?
man im stressed now.. and my head hurts really bad...
thanks, john

Since you tried Movie Maker I'm guessing you are on a Windows PC, correct?
Give AVS Video Editor a try and also VLC Media is a good one too.
One thing to remember is no matter what you use make sure you Zoom in on the timeline in order to get the exact seconds you want to cut.

Try this, download the 30 day trial version of Sony Vegas 10. You can split and do everything else also. There is also a cheaper Sony solution also available to trial download. Be careful, you might like it!

ill give it a go. like i say ive worked it out on corel pro x3 now which i already owned so ill probably stick with it unless the sony one is simpler.

also, the way im doing it at the moment imports vob files and exports as mpeg so im not compromising quality.

Try a program called clip converter. It might be what you need.
